I spent a lot of time checking into various ISAM solutions. This is what I found out: I bought the official C-ISAM product from IBM, but was unable to use it on Linux because it was 32-bit. It is not clear if IBM is still supporting C-ISAM. However there are other ways to read C-ISAM files. The D-ISAM software works almost exactly the same as C-ISAM (see https://www.isam.ca/?page_id=45). It also comes with useful utilities for checking the integrity of files and fixing files that are corrupted. It...

I spent a lot of time checking into various ISAM solutions. This is what I found out: IBM has officially withdrawn support for their C-ISAM product. (See https://www.ibm.com/support/pages/node/1221286). Besides not being supported, it is very old and doesn't work on current versions of Linux. However there are other ways to read C-ISAM files. I wanted to test the most current version of vbisam. I was able to get the program at http://inglenet.ca/Products/GnuCOBOL/visam-2.2.tar.Z. to work, but with a few errors in make test. After building visam, I did this: cd /usr/local/lib64 ln -s libvisam.a libvbisam.a ln -s libvisam.la libvbisam.la ln -s libvisam.so libvbisam.so cd /usr/lib64 ln -s libvisam.a libvbisam.a ln -s libvisam.la libvbisam.la ln -s libvisam.so libvbisam.so cd /usr/local/include rm vbisam* ln -s visam.h vbisam.h ln -s visam_rename.h...
