SMART Drive Status on SAS Drives
Ok this should be fixed by this commit, which will be in the next release : https://github.com/webmin/webmin/commit/474ca81d4aa68efdc83b224bcc7f5951905baf5a
Thanks for this bug report! One question about the raw SMART output though - does the serial number have a space in it?
If the dnf command is installed, Webmin should just be using a command like dnf install package1 package2 etc.. I wonder if maybe a specific package cannot be upgraded? Perhaps instead of upgrading them all at once, try a few at a time?
Jamie, I have not tried to install anything else. My point of submitting this was that 1. the webmin processing failed; 2. But using the almalinux command line shell and the usual update command "dnf update" worked without any issues. This suggests that the "cockpit" issue reported by webmin's update process (which I have never dug into) had a problem BUT dnf did not. when using webmin's update on almalinux 9.6 what is the actual command? thanks for considering this. regards rich
That error with the package cockpit-bridge seems unrelated to Webmin! Can you install any other package successfully?
zonekey for zonbe transfer not accepted when creating slave zone
Ok I see now - the next Webmin release will handle this case properly by adding a separate field for the key.
Can attach or link to a screenshot of the field you are entering "somezone key somekey" into?
Thanks for reporting this! As it happens this bug was recently fixed, but we haven't released a new version of Usermin with the fix yet. It will be solved in the next release though.
I'll ask the main developer of the Authentic theme to take a look at this...
Actually it seems to be working fine now!
No it is pointing to 216.105.38.11 , which is the same as for webmin.com which does work OK. Should I change it?
Sorry, but I am still getting an SSL cert error from https://usermin.com/
SSL cert for project vhosts
You can set the rawbody with this field :
Spamassassin Header and Body Checks
Thanks, I'll add a field for this
The latest few Webmin releases support certbot's stand-alone webserver mode to validate certs, which can be used if you don't have Apache or Nginx running.
Webmin will only show Unix user mailboxes - if you have some other kind of virtual mailboxes setup, it doesn't know about them unfortunately.
This is new to me - what does LMTP do for you?
Can't authenticate with PAM
Actually let's use your other ticket to follow up on this : https://github.com/webmin/webmin/issues/2298
Does anything useful get logged to /var/log/secure or /var/log/authlog when you try to login?
That's odd ... are you actively using Webmin during these 5 minutes, or is it just open in your browser?
Thanks, I'll have Webmin look in that directory as well in the next release.
Software updates does not return to where it should
Ok looks like that bug was fixed here : https://github.com/webmin/webmin/commit/04523fdb866bbba9b6226c97387981e1b24fb6fa This will be in the next webmin release..
I think I found the cause, and fixed it here : https://github.com/webmin/webmin/commit/1d0d25efac650f1e017f64d6df43de8a1c99c521
When you mouse over that "Return to package list" link, what is the URL shown in your browser's status bar?
Can you post a screenshot of how you've setup Procmail in Webmin?
Max - are you still seeing this in the latest Webmin release?
Postfix Mail Queue
You can setup an alert if the mail queue is too large at Tools -> System and Server Status
In that case, maybe you need to install the iptables package? We will make the error message clearer in the next release of Webmin.
That error message isn't very clear - it really should just say that "no iptables bootup action was found". If you go to Webmin -> System -> Bootup and Shutdown, do you see an action named iptables ?
Failed to activate interfaces : RTNETLINK answers: Operation not supported
Yes it will. Thanks for reporting this!
Ok, that's useful! Try also applying this patch : https://github.com/webmin/webmin/commit/35bae257f24721c35ba5a114947edf58d391bb5e
Can you try applying this patch and then re-try activating the interface? https://github.com/webmin/webmin/commit/b095aa2b20309ad88417a569c1678d153e66fac1 It should show a more detailed error message now..
Can you attach a screenshot of the Activated at Boot tag on the Network Interfaces page from your system?
Which Linux distribution and version are you running there? Also, does the Apply button on the main page of the Network Configuration module work?
You can manually set it at Webmin -> Webmin Configuration -> Operating System and Environment.
Ok - unfortunately the current Webmin release doesn't support Debian 13 (trixie) yet. But we will add support in the next release..
What does the /etc/debian_version file contain on your system?
Do you still have a browser with Webmin loaded open during those 10 minutes? Because the UI might still be making background requests...
Email autoclearing uses all available memory, crashes server
Ok I see the bug that causes this now! It will be fixed in the next Usermin release ...
Ok ... in that case, only the headers of the email messages should be read. Can you post a screenshot of the Manage Folders page in Usermin for this user?
Well, as everyone knows, and Australia is entirely peopled with criminals :-) I don't think I need access to the actual messages though, because the automatic cleanup script shouldn't actually be reading the entire files. However, it would be useful to know what "Action when messages to delete are found" is set to on the user's mailbox cleanup page.
10 GB is pretty large ... it's possible that scanning it could have used a lot of RAM. Do you know if the folder is in mbox (single file) or Maildir (one file per message) format?
Was it the auto.pl process that was using all the RAM, or Dovecot? Also, how large in GB was this trash folder?
Very odd ... let me see if I can re-produce this.
When you opened the module before refreshing, did it display any error about rsyslog not being found?
Update avalaible message not uptodate
Which Linux distribution and version are you running there?
Vertical scrollbar always on
Actually, you can configure Webmin to listen on multiple IP addresses at Webmin -> Webmin Configuration -> Ports and Addresses.
That said, we could support multiple bind addresses if this would be a useful feature?
In this case, did you install MariaDB before or after installing Webmin?
Wait did you edit that bind line manually? Because it only supports a single IP address currently..
Yeah the error messages comes from the database libraries that connect to MariaDB. The reason we show the full error is because in some cases the issue might be that Webmin is trying to connect to MariaDB using the wrong socket or port, even though it's actually up and running.
Seems like that IP is on a different system? Try just removing that bind= line from miniserv.conf and then starting Webmin.
Does that "MySQL version" message appear the second time you open the MariaDB module? There's a small chance it will be incorrect the first time as Webmin hasn't detected the DB type yet..
Is the IP address 10.203.122.2 still active on your system? From the error, it looks like it might not be ..
The file isn't necessarily missing, it's just that the MariaDB server can't be connected to via it if it's not running. Can you restart MariaDB using Webmin?
Can you post your /etc/webmin/miniserv.conf file?
Network Interface Configuration issue with saved netplan
Ok I see the cause of this bug - it will be fixed in the next Webmin release.
Can you attach a screenshot of the new version message you're seeing in Webmin?
Possible DKIM issue
What do you see if you click on "tom" in the user list?
Yes, definitely you'll get better support with Virtualmin Pro! As for this issue, re-installing Postfix was probably a bad idea as it may have erased some config files. Make sure that in Virtualmin on the Edit User page for that tom account that email is enabled for the user..
Activated at Boot tab - empty table
FYI, support for NetworkManager has been implemented for inclusion in the next Webmin release.
Create virtual domain Postfix error
Cool, I will mark this as fixed!
DNS servers not responding
Make sure you also allow UDP port 53
Postfix error deleting domain
Ok great!
What output do you get if you SSH in as root and run postconf recipient_bcc_maps
DKIM signing failure
I had a look into this some more, and found that adding the postfix user to the opendkim group isn't necessary if a TCP socket is being used to communicate between Postfix and the DKIM milter. But it is needed if a socket file is used ... so I'll make sure the group is setup correctly in all cases in the next release.
Did you see any error messages in /var/log/maillog or mail.log ?
Ok .. and what error did you get before the postfix user was added?
Hmm, odd that this group addition didn't happen as part of the DKIM package install. Did you just use the package that comes with Ubuntu 22.04 (or was installed by Virtualmin) ?
Ah ... sorry, right now there is no support for using Nginx to request a Let's Encrypt cert, sorry.
Ok, that error means that Webmin couldn't find an Apache virtualhost entry for ns1.vavias.com . In the Apache module, what virtual hosts does it show that you do have?
What action are you taking in Virtualmin that triggers that "No virtual host matching" error?
Are these usermin packages perhaps from some other source?
Maybe I can see this if some old version of Usermin depended on perl-LDAP ? But as far as I can tell, that was never the case..
I am very confused as to what's going on here. I can get that Webmin requires perl-LDAP , but not the other way around!
That's wierd! How did you try installing it, and what was the exact error message?
Linux Firewall reset creates NAT table rules instead of FILTER table rules
Thanks for pointing this out! We'll fix it in the next Webmin release ..
It should update automatically, as long as DNSSEC is shown as enabled for each domain.
What happens if you go to Webmin -> Servers -> BIND DNS Server, click on one of the domains, then on the DNSSEC icon?
slave_add.cgi perl error
Oh well ... let us know if you see this again.
