Whoops :) Read your post too late. The sync completed after 14 hours.. but it did complete without errors. So, checking the help, indeed -F forced a Full Resync of the array.. well, I hope I had no Read error during the process.. Just out of curiosity.. since I do still have the original drives, parity and content files.. If you were me, would you just copy the old parity and content file over and do a re-sync? Thanks guys!

Sorry for the double post :/

Update: Seems to be doing a full parity? (how do I get for certain?) Since after 5 hours is at 50%..

whoops.. it was existing, but permissions were insufficient. Fixed that, I was prompted with Too many disks have UUID changed from the latest 'sync'. If this happens because you really replaced them, you can 'sync' anyway, using 'snapraid --force-uuid sync'. Instead, it's possible that you messed up the disk mount points, and you have to restore the mount points at the state of the latest sync. I re-run then with snapraid -E -F --force-uuid sync and now it is running.. fingers crossed since I don't...

Thanks Leifi and David! @Leifi: I tried first your suggestion: snapraid sync -E -F but as you guessed, it is still complaining about the missing disk. Even adding a 'fake' disk as an empty directory in a non-snapraid disk fails tho: L:\>snapraid sync -E -F Self test... Error accessing 'disk' 'L:\W\' specification in 'L:/W/' at line 37 @David : Recalculating the entire parity is surely an option, but I would take it as a last resort.. Thanks!

Hello everyone! I have recently moved from a 5x2Tb drives (4 data, 1 parity) to a 4x4Tb setup (3 data, 1 parity) I have copied all of the data from the old to the new disks, including the content files. Some data of course got shuffled around when going 4->3, but I was thinking that a simpele sync would have recognized the moved files from their hash. I have updated the snapraid.conf file, but still snapraid complains about the missing disk: Disk 'd04w' with uuid 'ce9d3e91' not present in the configuration...

found the culprit :( (Sorry, my fault of not noticing before) There was an hidden folder with ~700k files on one of the disks That was causing the massive overhead. Using a smaller (128 or 64k) block size would help? Any side effect?

  • Ilgrank Ilgrank posted a comment on discussion Help

Hi Recycle bin is set to 0 bytes on all drives The disk with the highest number of files has 8751 files

  • Ilgrank Ilgrank posted a comment on discussion Help

Thanks Leifi Did that (took 8 hours to complete) and the situation didn't change much: Data Drive 1: 1305GB Free Data Drive 2: 187GB Free Data Drive 3: 189GB Free Parity Drive 1: 44GB Free (was: 8GB Free) Btw, I HAD to force realloc otherwise a Sync would not complete (unless, as I did, I removed some of the data on the data disks)

Hello everyone I understand the block size (256kb) can cause fragmentation, but I've got mostly large (>8Gb) files and still my parity drive is now full. I've got 4x5TB drives, one of them being Parity and the other being data. The situation is as follows: Data Drive 1: 1305GB Free Data Drive 2: 187GB Free Data Drive 3: 189GB Free Parity Drive 1: 8GB Free ..and I had to delete some files from one of the data drives in order to complete a sync, otherwise I would have been out of parity. Isn't this...
