So this turned out to be my error. I remember with previous versions needing to change the path after an upgrade to some version of the mac OS, so I just assumed I still needed to find the path to the tex files and change the settings by hand. It seems newer version of texMaths now has the correct paths. So I accepted the default values for those and everything has been working great. (I should have posted this back when it started working several weeks ago) We can close this issue. Thanks!

There doesn't seem to be a tmpfile.txt on my computer. At least a search of "This Mac" in Finder couldn't produce one. Is there a specific directory it should be?

Actually, shortly after my reply, LibraOffice told me there was an update to TexMaths,...

I did that, and it is showing those two fields as you describe.
