externalization resulting in legends with wrong style

Addendum: I stumbled upon this https://github.com/jlaurens/synctex/issues/2 does this have anything to do with frontend (texstudio) or the compiler (lualatex)?

I have the same problem. I can also reproduce the problem from the snippet posted above and compiled via lualatex (texlive 2018).
