cPanel is not user-friendly; I recommend you use HestiaCP. It provides a cPanel conversion tool. Additionally, I have released a new version of AWStats 8.1. You might want to give it a try. I am not familiar with cPanel, so I don't know how to configure it successfully for AWStats. Perhaps you could set up a server to test HestiaCP. It's very elegant.
