My issue is solved. I had pasted the complete code example within the body of the Pupil class . Strange enough, the build showed no errors.

I encounter the same issue with http://localhost:8080/MySchool/modules/Pupil : after entering user: admin, password: admin nothing happens, i stay in the login screen.
