Dear Frans, Thank you for introducing me to the supplier! I just found a manufacturer that can print on film at 3000 dpI, so I'm currently trying to create a chart using them. I'm not sure how cleanly the edges will be formed, but I'll try it first, and if it doesn't work, I'll contact Dot-Vision. It's amazing how many different suppliers there are; it's a great time to be alive! I'm interested in your proposed method. Does this mean making the Thorlabs chart pattern smaller and placing more of them...
Dear Frans, Thank you for thoroughly analyzing the data! I see, I hadn't considered the reflection from the lighting. Indeed, the analysis didn't work well unless I set the threshold low, so it seems the lighting was poor. Next time I take photos, I'll try adjusting things like masking unnecessary areas and ensuring the light is parallel. The solder mask was made by a manufacturer called JLCPCB, and the manufacturing method was laser cutting. The Thorlabs chart has a magnification of over 6x, which...
Dear Frans, Hello. The stencil plate for soldering has arrived. There are a few things I could improve on, but the results are fairly good. Although the lens can only shoot up to 1x magnification, I tried shooting a chart up to 5x magnification. Using the --invert command, it seems that analysis is possible. However, when I actually look at the chart, the edges are jagged. Is this quality usable as is? I've uploaded the images below, so I would appreciate it if you could take a look. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1D-D1-hWUJRJJ1DBoO-_Hpnr_Eu6lOKz4?usp=drive_link...
Dear Frans, Thank you for the advice! After much deliberation, I decided to make it using a lens grid. This was my first time creating a Gerber file, but I managed to create something that seems usable for soldering stencils. I'll share the file for anyone who might need it in the future. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/1_0NO7nSbgnTxzfRPv6LA1axNeFRO5kyK?usp=sharing Once I receive the actual product and have finished evaluating it, I will report back on this forum. Thank you very much. Regards,...
Dear Frans, Hi :) I've learned that I can print detailed charts using a laser printer. However, I've also found that the edge accuracy isn't very good at 1.0x magnification. Therefore, it seems I'll need to create a soldering stencil, as originally planned. I apologize for the additional question, but regarding chart types, is my understanding correct that the difference between a lens grid and a grid is the chart orientation and sampling points? I understand that lens grid charts are relatively...
Dear Frans, Thank you for your quick reply. I haven't used the alignment function because I sometimes use lenses that don't have Exif data. But, as you said, it's a good idea to print it out on paper and test it. I'll report back if it works! (It might be interesting if we could also share the Gerber file.) Thank you very much. Regards, Gray-Box
Dear Frans, Regarding the circular structure in the MTF Mapper chart, will the analysis still be successful even without this structure? To evaluate lens performance at 1x magnification using an MTF Mapper chart, I'm planning to print the chart using a metal stencil (the kind used for soldering). Due to the limitations of the metal stencil, I can't reproduce the hollow circular structure. Will this cause any problems with the analysis? I would appreciate your opinion. Regards, Gray-Box
