I've seen this as well, looking at SHA256 hashes at the end of binary files. Ascii hex of the sha2-256 is: e98dcfefc5cf6183702a85d17a3351867cbd627844569c02972ba3637a7305cc The binary representation should be 32 bytes, and shows up in Notepad++'s main view as 32 characters: йЌПпЕПaѓp*…Сz3Q†|ЅbxDVњ—+ЈczsМ This shows up in the hex editor as 50 bytes. Not sure if Notepad++ is adjusting the characters intoa 16-bit (or larger) character set before the hex editor is run, but this is a real bug. Work around...
