The PC should exit sleep mode without entering a password. In this mode, the PC continues to operate at reduced power consumption. Consider it as if you've simply turned off the screen, the fan, and almost entirely processor. This is correct behavior for Veracrypt. This thread discusses something completely different: the PC fails to boot after hibernation and instead enters a cold start.
