Hello Jason, back home I tried the tablet and was successful! I'm running a 4.9.76 kernel now, freshly compiled including all modules. Everything is working as expected. Thank you so much for your help and explanations!
Dear Jason, thank you so much for your detailed reply! I was waiting for an automatic notification of new posts and didn't check SourceForge itself. Your answer must have slipped through, as I left the day after to work abroad for a while. As I do not have the tablet here with me, I can test your suggestions only end of March. However, I'm pretty sure you are pointing at the cause of the problem. if the kernel (more precisely: the core HID subystem) was compiled without CONFIG_HID_WACOM enabled,...
Dear Jason, thank you again for your comprehensive answer and your time. I am sorry for the confusion, I might have jumped to wrong conclusions. The different cases might have risen from having udev-rules applied or not, but that's just guessing again. Thanks for helping pointing that out. I have created a script that collects some information as you suggested (the attached moreinfo.sh) and I find no relevant difference in the respective outputs except for having the kernel module wacom loaded or...
Dear Jason, thank you very much for your quick response and helpful! Also thank you for your clarifications! but it looks like you're getting errors for all device types. That's right, but I guess I should update the information provided in former post. After playing around a little, I discovered two cases depending on whether the wacom driver is loaded or not. If not loaded, the tablet is recognized as HID device and I can use the table in the way I could use my mouse plus having pressure sensitivity....
I have created "graphire4-6x8.tablet" file with following content an put it to the other *-tablet files and then compiled libwacom-0.25 (current stable version for Gentoo) by hand. However, it doesn't look like this has changed anything. I can still only use the tablet like a mouse. Interestingly, Gimp accepts pressure sensitivity when using the stylus. [Device] Name=Wacom Graphire4 6x8 DeviceMatch=usb:056a:0016 Class=Graphire Width=6 Height=8 # did not create a layout #Layout=graphire4-6x8.svg [Features]...
