Hello Martin. thanks for the reply. I agree that operationally if you add a service to an hostgroup or if you add an hostgroup to a service is a duplicated feature. But I try to explain why it's still a good idea to have it with an example: you create an hostgroup named "windows-hosts" and you associate a few services to that group, like PING, MEMORY, CPU, etc, etc. you only know what services are associated to that hostgroup, another Nagios/NagiosQL administrator has no idea if he should just add...
Thanks Martin for the answer. this makes sense to me. regards, Federico
Hello Martin. thanks for the reply. it's not a problem to use VI or another command line editor for that file. I just wanted to be sure I wasn't missing something in NagiosQL. since "resource.cfg" usually contains snmp community-keys and passwords perhaps it makes more sense to leave NagiosQL like this. best regards, Federico
Hello Martin. oh that's great, thanks! I thought the red arrow was there to move all hosts left to right in a single click. damn me. I'll RTFM the next time :) regards, Federico
Hello. When I associate a service to an hostgroup I'd like to be able to exclude a single host. Example: I associate service "DISK-C" to my windows-hostgroup, but one of my thousands windows servers has no C: partition. I know in Nagios Core you do that by adding a "!" in front of the hostname. is that possible with NagiosQL? if it's not pls move this to Feature Requests. thanks and regards, Federico
Hello. in NagiosQL is possible to restart the Nagios process: Administration -> Tools -> Nagios control -> Restart Nagios that's great. but if the Nagios process isn't running (for example a user stopped it by clicking "shutdown the Nagios process" from the cgi) Nagios doesn't start. how to start a non running Nagios process from NagiosQL? or that's not possible? in this case pls move this topic to Feature Requests. thanks and regards, Federico
Hello. I'm using Nagios Core since ages with good old VI as editor. This year I started to use NagiosQL and it's fantastic! a quick question: is it possible to edit the file "resource.cfg" with NagiosQL or that must be done only with VI? thanks, Federico
Hello. as you said you associate a service to an hostgroup by selecting "Administration -> Supervision -> Services" but if you select "Administration -> Supervision -> Host Groups" you cannot see which services are associated to that hostgroup. That's a pity, as it would be great if that could be done. should I add a feature request or can this topic be moved? greetz and thanks Federico
