So... just seen your last post. So I thought I'd go and try again, I'm afraid to say that I am now experiencing exactly the result that you are getting. Which is weird in itself as I know that it worked - with the caveat that I described that I had to kill the NAPS 2 processes. Maybe that contributed, I don't know. However, if I keep the temp directory open in Nemo while trying to print, NAPS2 doesn't seem to be creating a directory under that at all, let alone putting a file in it. I have also (while...

I get the email into a Thunderbird client where I can edit the email the file is attached to and send it. so that part works for me here but when I came to exit NAPS I noticed I still had the dialogue and it would only go when I killed the NAPS2 processes (presumably one for main and one for dialogue for export) . to be fair I had to set up the email settings as it's not something that I have previously used I left all settings at "default" I'm on: Linux Mint 22.3 - Cinnamon 64-bit 7.0.0-29-generic...

So, made the move to Linux a while back and still learning and/or ironing out the differences to get things working quickly in the new environment. I'm on Linux Mint 22.3 - Cinnamon 64-bit kernel 7.0.0-28-generic and my file manager is Nemo 6.6.3 One issue I'm struggling with slightly is the myriad ways to use filesystems effectively. symlinks are useful but have a number of limitations, so whne I found that nemo had favourites that were recognised and used in system file dialogues I thought I had...

I don't have a 500 I've got a 750, which uses the 700/750 driver and provides both WIA and TWAIN. I can see these in NAPS and it allows me to select glass/feeder or duplex. Unf when I try to scan using feeder I get: but that's not surprising as I don't have an ADF fitted - point is NAPS asked it to use the feeder and it tried to use the feeder. Just wondered if you'd tried the 700 driver with the 500? They are usually backward compatible. All depends on whether it checks model when you install of...

Gail, no idea what you are trying to save but on my version (quite old) I set the save locations in the PDF and Image settings dialogues from the save drop downs. NAPS 2 then prompts me with a file dialogue box where to save the scan to. So either change the location in the settings of just change the location in the file dialogue. So if you are trying to save and for whatever reason (say the USB stick or drive is full) and it comes back to you with an error, I would have thought that as it's come...

...do you really mean automatically manipulate the image (rotate)? How would the program know whether or not a transformation is required? If it's all about whether it can OCR the text properly then surely this is actually... scan image align (for straight edges) try to OCR did it work? - how to tell? - if so save otherwise repeat (until succeeds or 3 times) try to OCR did it work, if so save end repeat ..isnt it easier to look at the sheets and tell the program whether it's landscape or portrait?...

In my limited experience any OCR needs a good clean scan to have a chance, even with the more advanced software. Looking at your file, there are a few things that I think will get in the way, not least the other side of the page that you have scanned can be clearly seen - presumably an article about something to do with mobile phones. Try importing your doc into NAPS and then in editor converting to black and white, or reduce the saturation to zero and then whack up the contrast. You will see not...

Never tried on a PDF before, but in 7.1.2.0 I just imported a couple of PDFs, opened preview, clicked rotate and was able to use all rotate functions including deskew on them. Possibly a limitation of PDF type but can't see why. I thought that when you imported a PDF it became an image anyway. Does NAPS2...
