I don't have a 500 I've got a 750, which uses the 700/750 driver and provides both WIA and TWAIN. I can see these in NAPS and it allows me to select glass/feeder or duplex. Unf when I try to scan using feeder I get: but that's not surprising as I don't have an ADF fitted - point is NAPS asked it to use the feeder and it tried to use the feeder. Just wondered if you'd tried the 700 driver with the 500? They are usually backward compatible. All depends on whether it checks model when you install of...

Gail, no idea what you are trying to save but on my version (quite old) I set the save locations in the PDF and Image settings dialogues from the save drop downs. NAPS 2 then prompts me with a file dialogue box where to save the scan to. So either change the location in the settings of just change the location in the file dialogue. So if you are trying to save and for whatever reason (say the USB stick or drive is full) and it comes back to you with an error, I would have thought that as it's come...

...do you really mean automatically manipulate the image (rotate)? How would the program know whether or not a transformation is required? If it's all about whether it can OCR the text properly then surely this is actually... scan image align (for straight edges) try to OCR did it work? - how to tell? - if so save otherwise repeat (until succeeds or 3 times) try to OCR did it work, if so save end repeat ..isnt it easier to look at the sheets and tell the program whether it's landscape or portrait?...

In my limited experience any OCR needs a good clean scan to have a chance, even with the more advanced software. Looking at your file, there are a few things that I think will get in the way, not least the other side of the page that you have scanned can be clearly seen - presumably an article about something to do with mobile phones. Try importing your doc into NAPS and then in editor converting to black and white, or reduce the saturation to zero and then whack up the contrast. You will see not...

Never tried on a PDF before, but in 7.1.2.0 I just imported a couple of PDFs, opened preview, clicked rotate and was able to use all rotate functions including deskew on them. Possibly a limitation of PDF type but can't see why. I thought that when you imported a PDF it became an image anyway. Does NAPS2...

Ben, not sure what the use case is for Mario. I assume that he's talking about saved image files. The function that you have for Saved PDFs works well where the user saves/views/saves/views... i.e. click on the link in the saved notification and the file opens in the system set PDF viewer. Like Mario I nearly always open the (PDF in my case) to ensure that the saved copy has all the content readable. To make this perfect, (for me!) the only thing I would dearly love is to be able to set an option...

This is getting slightly surreal. I spent another evening removing and installing drivers a few times. Each time I only got a WSD device to select and nothing changed. This morning I received a response from Brother, which effectively told me how to remove all drivers and then install the complete package (which includes loads of useless software, I don't want and never had installed before but that's not for now) Followed that all through, which included a few reboots. Then tried their software...

Ben, thanks for the quick response. I've attached two PDFs showing the output of the two PCs Mine (wrong) and 2nd PC (looks like the physical test page, all margins included), two screenshots of the settings of multi page profile (used 99% of the time) for my PC in both versions of your program and one of the 2nd PC in its 5.8.2 form. I'm sure this is going to be driver related, but whether it's just drivers themselves I don't know. More importantly I'm running out of ideas on how to isolate what...
