Tim, what it the concern? Software\hardware sip phones are known to be perfectly working with Asterisk based PBX (to be more precise it depends on a softphone but in general they are good to go).

There are many reasons for single board computer to get isolated or even become unresponsive. I would suggest to troubleshoot from the very 'bottom' - learn dmesg -t and see if it has anything to do with any of your scripts, hardware, power, core, etc. It is also worth of trying to run a script on cron pinging either your router or any external server. In the event that ping has no return - the script can reboo your RPI.

df -h will give you some clues.
