This request aims to further develop and refine what is, for me, one of the main aspects of FP: the efficient way of displaying large amounts of information. With Jonas Batista, I learned that it's very useful to have nodes with fixed width, as it gets easier to notice the hierarchy levels. Now, I think the visual representation of information can be even further improved with fixed node heights. Sometimes, I have nodes with long texts in the core, which results in a very tall node, making it difficult...

I will try to create a script that does that: activated if CTRL+V is pressed paste select pasted nodes apply a script like "minimize all" only to selected nodes I finally created this script. It's a mix of: the scripts above by macmarrum; this script by boercher; and this script by dreamofi. The first part is about pasting. The second part finds nodes created in the last 1 second (i.e., the nodes that were just pasted) and minimize them if they exceed max_shortened_text_length: // @ExecutionModes({ON_SINGLE_NODE})...

Ok, taking a step back and looking at what happened in the last months, I got to this conclusion: Maybe, me and quickfold have been acting like adults who put way too much pressure on a kid in whom we see a lot of potential. We frequently express our vision that FP can make a high impact in the world. Quickfold and I are clearly type A personality, falling into the classic trap of type A people: expecting from others the same level of extreme rigor that we expect from ourselves. But, it doesn't make...

I drastically reduced my level of participation a few months ago because I became skeptical that Freeplane could ever become a highly popular program accessible to the average user. I'm still interested in using Freeplane and contributing, but it doesn't make sense to make documentation a major priority for me if the program has no hopes of reaching the average user. I'm going to explain my reasons in hope that someone can suggest a way forward or convince me that I'm wrong about its potential. If...

Edo, That's one possibility, but I'm afraid it would break the flow for me, as I would need to use the duality title/content. Something I like in FP is that it doesn't force me to have this title/content structure, like other programs do (Notion, Obsidian, Onenote). The script developed by macmarrum is working well here. I am VERY excited with the experience that I'm having with all the nodes limited to one line. I feel I can keep the map much more under control. Previously, as soon as I had a couple...

I was reading this article, and it made me think that one more aspect of the facelift that @rexelbartolome is pushing could be having a minimalistc bar, to be used as the default for new users, in order to create a pleasurable first impression. Those guys in the article are extremely picky about the UI being clean. They point the Mindnode UI as a good example. Look how simple it is. It's even simpler than Zen Mindmap, which is focused on having a zen interface. Just to give an idea, I created this...

While I do like the collapse icon for it, I kind of prefer Mindmeister's solution to it or maybe something similar where the circle becomes a radio button of some sort when it has nodes to unfold. Either that or the collapse arrows only show up when you hover over the circle, I just feel like having the collapse arrows visible all the time beside the nodes would clutter the look of the mind map. I like your idea of making it more minimalistic. The position of the circle already implies its funct...
