[EDIT - ISSUE SOLVED] Hi all, and thanks in advance for your help. I am running an HP EliteBook 840 G1 laptop with a OEM 160 GB HDD as reported by CZL: sda (160GB_ST9160411AS__ST9160411AS_5TG173NQ) I have an Ubuntu Budgie and Windows 7 OS installed on several partition. I bought a brand new 240 GB M.2 SATA III SSD, as reported by CZL: sdb (240GB_TS240GMTS420S__TS240GMTS420S_G394090646) My goal is to migrate my existing OSs from the HDD to the SSD so I attempted CZL disk to disk migration but it always...
This is just to confirm that in the end I made it successful. Indeed I had to resize (shrink actually) my /dev/sda6 source partition, because that size was not possible to recreate on destination disk. With that done, CZL completed the cloning without issues. Thank you very much for the confidence boost I found here, and even if I had to struggle till late at night, I'm happy to have solved it, and hopefully this may help somebody else out there. Ciao, Davide
I think I found the issue. I tried to recreate the same partition layout on the new disk manually, using fdisk, so to use exactly the same first and last sector of each partition and I found a couple of inconsistencies. This is the layout of my source device: Device Boot Start End Sectors Size Id Type /dev/sda1 * 2048 206847 204800 100M 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT /dev/sda2 206848 200206847 200000000 95,4G 7 HPFS/NTFS/exFAT /dev/sda3 308367360 312578047 4210688 2G c W95 FAT32 (LBA) /dev/sda4 200208382 308367359...
Hi Steven, first of all, thank you so much for taking your time to help me, this is really appreciated. I am really interested in understanding what's going wrong here. I downloaded CZL 2.8.0-9 and attempted again cloning disk to disk, unfortunately the result is pretty the same. Attaching the clonezilla.log file for your review. But when I go through it, I can't really see anything interesting except for a couple of things: 1. it fails to create the last partition on destination reporting no space...
Hi Steven, thank you so much for getting back. While waiting for help, to further validate the M.2 SATA drive I did setup an OS from scratch with success. Then I tried again to run clonezilla, restoring from the sda disk image I saved on an external USB volume, and I got the same error as before. The sdb drive lost its content, and no partitions were created as part of the restore process. See below the results of the commands you asked executed within CZL, after the failure, entering in command...
