Gary, on the Donate page there are two buttons, "Donate" and "Donate with a Card". I just sent a donation using "Donate with a Card" and was able to enter my card details and send a payment directly without any need to create a PayPal account.

I've taken a different approach to dealing with this problem for the time being. I mostly use UPM on my laptop and desktop, and generally only occasionally use it on Android to check existing passwords rather than creating new entries. I do the following to manually update the UPM database on my phone: First, in UPM on Android, go to Settings->More->Backup to create a backup upm.db file on the phone. I'm experiencing the same problem on my Pixel 3 phone. I wonder whether the problem is related to the fact that the Dropbox API no longer accepts long-lived tokens (as of the end of September 2021)? UPM on my laptop (running Kubuntu 18.04, UPM installed from the Ubuntu deb package) has just stopped working in the last day or two after an update to the Ubuntu Java packages.
