The syslog daemon writes to the log on behalf on mpd5, so you should not specify a path to mpd5 pid file. In that case newsyslog sends SIGHUP to the syslog daemon as documented in the newsyslog.conf(5)...

Have searched with google and here on forum but did not find. My setting in newsyslog /var/log/mpd/mpd.log 600 3600 * @T00 JC /var/run/mpd5.pid How do you usually do it? Which tool use, etc. How to make logs rotation correctly? What signal to send? FreeBSD 12.2-RELEASE mpd5-5.9
