Hello. Make sure you use a Java version greater or equal than 9. IIRC Java does not update automatically above version 8, so you may probably have a Java version 8 that is up to date but that is not enough to make FidoCadJ 0.24.8 version run. Hope it helps!

Hi Luigi, that's one of the major news of version 0.24.8, indeed. In this version, you can not disable this behavior, though. You may open a request for it there: https://github.com/DarwinNE/FidoCadJ/issues However, I noticed in the past the configuration options for the program that are saved in files tend to create a certain deal of confusion in many users. Hello, FidoCadJ requires at least Java 9. You must install a more recent version, 8 is not enough. While I am writing those lines, the last version is Java 14 and it is the version I used to develop version 0.27.8, it should work just fine. Cheers, D.

Hello Axel, No, unfortunately it is not possible to run FidoCadJ 0.24.8 with Java 1.8. If version 0.24.7 is slow with Linux, try to hide the grid, it seems that it is the culprit in the vast majority of situations. There is a button under the toolbar that toggles grid visibility, that may help. Hi Alessandro, it seems that it is a misleading message from new operating systems. I tried to download the file (from GitHub) and it works fine on my computer (High Sierra). Hi Ernesto! Nice to know FidoCadJ works. Concerning the strange characters, it's an issue with the handling of UTF-8 in the ResourceBundle class, provided by Java. I could patch this behaviour many years ago, but maybe my patch does not work in your particular setup. I don't have a solution as I should be able to replicate the problem (and everything works for me). Ciao, ci vuole un ambiente Java installato su Mac, in gergo ci vuole quello che si chiama un JRE (Java Runtime Environment). Qui dovrebbe essere un buon punto di partenza per installarne uno: https://www.java.com/fr/download/help/mac_install.xml Non c'è una versione demo di FidoCadJ, il programma è completo ed è totalmente gratuito, non richiede nessuna registrazione e nessuno store. Ciao, ho iniziato a lavorare alla possibilità di esportare un disegno in diversi file vettoriali separando i layer diversi (issue #154 su GitHub). Per adesso c'è ancora qualcosa da rivedere e da testare, ma direi che la cosa è fattibilissima. Cosa faccio con i layer vuoti? Mi parrebbe logico non generare nessun file, adesso il programma ne genera comunque uno (con i buchi delle piazzole bianche). A presto, D.

L'idea (che mi sembra fattibile in questo caso) è di aggiungere solo lo stretto indispensabile. Nell'interfaccia di FidoCadJ punto sempre ad un certo minimalismo. Da un lato, mi semplifica il lavoro. Da un altro rende il risultato più pulito e facile da comprendere per chi si approccia al programma. Per esempio, perché separare i layer solo con l'esportazione SVG? Non si potrebbe fare con qualunque formato vettoriale (compreso il PDF)? Lo script OpenSCAD dev'essere generato da FidoCadJ? In questo...

Molto interessante, non dovrebbe essere difficile da fare e non si discosta dalla filosofia di FidoCadJ che rimane sempre legata al 2D. Nelle prossime settimane non ho tantissimo tempo libero, purtroppo, ma forse verso metà maggio proverò a fare qualcosa. Ho visto la issue su GitHub, è perfetta.

Ciao! Quello che posso pensare di fare è aggiungere un'esportazione verso uno script OpenSCAD (che verrebbe generato automaticamente), per esempio ottenendo una figura 2D avente un certo spessore uniforme, ma parametrizzabile in qualche modo (per esempio una variabile nello script). Però FidoCadJ lavora solo con elementi 2D e non posso andare molto oltre. Non è difficile aggiungere dei formati di esportazione vettoriale, ovviamente una volta che si conosce bene il formato verso cui si vuole andare....

Non sono sicuro di capire la domanda. Se usi un file vettoriale, le dimensioni sono rispettate, basta mantenere un fattore di scala uguale ad 1.0. Se invece usi un file bitmap, quello che conta sono i punti per pollice (DPI) e devi regolarli perché siano uguali alla risoluzione di cui hai bisogno (per esempio, per stampare). Servono altre informazioni?

Per quanto riguarda FidoCadJ, quando ho tempo e voglia, come dici tu, mi metto al computer e faccio qualcosa. Penso però che la grande differenza di FidoCadJ rispetto a tool come l'ottimo KiCAD (che ti consiglio caldamente di provare) è la facilità di scambio dei disegni nei forum e nei gruppi di discussione. Hi again, if it can be useful, I just tested FidoCadJ by connecting myself to a Linux Centos distant machine by SSH and by redirecting X11 via SSH. I have a X11 server on my Mac laptop so the graphical rendering is done on my computer by X11, inside a MacOS window. FidoCadJ runs very smoothly on the remote machine even in this configuration. Hi, if FidoCadJ is too slow on Linux, that is not normal at all. I tested it on many different machines and the performances were quite good even on very old hardware. However, it happened in the past that on some particular Linux installs, there are some performance issues. Unfortunately, this has been reported to me (I remember some discussions in Italian language elsewhere), but I never had such a problem myself. I am supposing you are running version 0.24.7 that is the most recent stable version...

Ciao, sembrerebbe che ci sia un problema di permessi di qualche genere. Purtroppo, non conosco Windows abbastanza per essere preciso (l'ultima versione di Windows che ho usato seriamente è stata Windows 2000), ma sembrerebbe che FidoCadJ non sia autorizzato a scrivere dove tu vorresti. Del resto, da quel poco che mi ricordo, "C:\Program Files\" non mi sembra il posto adatto per salvare un disegno. Credo tu debba cambiare i permessi a livello del sistema operativo, ma putroppo non ti so dire di più....

(There is a short tutorial on that on the English manual). By a certain point of view, the creation of a new symbol can be seen as a very "strong" version of the grouping technique.
