I'm also having issues (running Windows 11 22H2). I use Equalizer APO to reduce the volume because otherwise it's too loud for my headphones. At random points the audio would reset to "normal" and Configurator would say that Equalizer APO is not installed on the relevant audio device. No idea what's causing this.

"it should be possible to drop the patch in the game folder and make it work with or without DxWnd." Oh. You're right. It does work. It didn't seem like it at first. Ironically the way I verified that it worked was by checking one of the 60 fps patch's bugs. Because of issues with framerate, X-Wing and Tie Fighter have a bug where turrets on capital ships or platforms refuse to fire if the frame rate or performance is too high. This mainly affected the original DOS games, as the Windows versions...

Judging by these two threads (though for all I know a completely different ddraw.dll is being referred to in the second one), I imagine that support for either JeremyAnsel or rdoeffinger's variant of xwa_ddraw_d3d11 is still a far ways off. I'm wondering if it's possible to support something simpler. Namely this patch which allows the (vanilla) X-Wing games to render at 60 fps instead of their original (not sure if it's 30 fps or 35 fps). It supports xwa_ddraw_d3d11 but doesn't require it. I tried...

The problem involves DxWnd. If I load the game without dxwnd, it's the equivalent of turning on "Support offscreen 3d" in DirectX and one of the z buffer fixes in Direct3d. The first of which makes breaks camera angle changes in software rendering, and the latter completely hides everything 3d rendered in 3d Accelerated mode. In other words, I need to use DxWnd or an alternative fix (like the ddraw to directx 11 wrapper) to get things to work right. I chose DxWnd simply because I want to run the...

I'm trying to set up the Windows port of X-Wing, and I have a bit of a problem. I managed to configure the game so it works well enough with 16-bit software rendering... though I have a problem where the space debris doesn't show up even when the feature is turned on. This problem exists on both 16-bit software rendering and 3d Acceleration. When I switch from the software renderer to 3d Acceleration mode, black boxes appear where I have fired. This problem does not exist with software rendering....
