Still struggling any help will be great! anyone recognise this error message.

I get this message The registry refers to a nonexistent Java Runtime Environment installation or the runtime is corrupted. The system cannot find the file specified. after the install and when I click on the exe file. I have Java 8 1.44 update, any one have a fix for this? I have downloaded and installed 4 times each time same error message. Machine is running Windows 7 Home Premium with Service Pack 1. Used Google chrome to download file from site. TIA.
