submenu text turned bright red (hard to read)

These days my pidgin is mostly for connecting to Facebook and making it more readable. A week or two ago, all Facebook "Buddies" started appearing only as numbers, not names. If I look at the Buddie List, to the far right of the numbers I can see a very small profile image, just barely. But when someone messages me and it pops up the chat dialog, I only see a number. If I can't tell by the context (content) of the message, I have to ask who is chatting at me. This is a fully updated Arch Linux desktop....
