I did some more testing today. It appears that AStyle takes a string and then strips the leading white space. When it finds the length of the line, it then uses that string with no leading white space. This could lead to many issues including subsquent new lines having more than the desired line length. It also means that it doesn't even count a tab or space as a character in the length of a nonformatted line. This bug seems detrimental because it means that formatted lines and nonformatted lines...

I am having a similar issue. It appears that the code is counting characters and not the number of columns used. It would be useful to have a feature where lines are counted by their column width and not by their characters. It is almost necessary that the tabs be counted as 4 columns and not 1 character if "--indent=tab=4" is used. Simply counting the characters in the line is inaccurate for formatting guidelines that suggest column widths.
