I’ll be back from a little vacation in about a week. I’ll dd the setup on my end into an img and you/I can see how it restores on a drive. I’m thinking you’d have to live boot in order to dd the image back to your onboard nvme drive. There’s also clonezilla, I’ll see what makes the most sense. Scott, I’m actually coming up with a plan for that now. You see, on the WarDragon I do additional configuration that’s not in the normal ISO. Normally updates would just come from the repo I’ve created, but I did some big changes with GNU Radio and other applications in such a way I’ve not figured out the best way to update over the air yet. Hans, I took a quick peek on DragonOS FocalX and up under /usr/src/gr-inspector I have the source code there that includes the examples folder. Within the examples folder I'm able to run the flow graphs there. for example, signal_detection.grc. Have you tried those? I see in your case you have a folder called GNU Radio Modules on your desktop. That’s really interesting and lots going on in there. Out of curiosity, have you found a seg fault manually running dumphfdl directly with a list of frequencies and such? Gary, I have a Airspy HF+ here. Please let me know what you’re running command line so I can try to replicate. The libuhd 4.x is actually the library for ettus/usrp equipment so I’m not sure why it’d be loading up or saying that. If you’re never going to use ettus/usrp you could in theory uninstall libuhd but I’m still curious why in the world it’s even getting used. This is very true, however, to do wide bandwidth and heavy DSP on host needs compute. For example, even on the pi5 it simply can’t handle doing more theb maybe 6 or so Msps with heavy DSP. Hello. So it’s not really so much about kernel as it is about the specific processor being used. DragonOS FocalX is for x86_64. DragonOS Pi64 is using 22.04 built for and around Pi. To the best of my knowledge a Pi OS only boots and runs on the Pi (Broadcom). That’s one of those things that still bug me to this day. I can’t understand where I’m going wrong with my attempt at creating new certs on first boot and activating the service. It complains that I’m “restarting it too fast”. I must have tried like 10 different approaches. I’ll see if I can take another stab at it cause that’s probably annoying for the end user and it probably causes confusion as most people wouldn’t reboot and check again. I think the first 24.04 kernel typically is backported as the hwe kernel on 22.04 I can force a new kernel now into the installer for a custom build I think. Hello, You’re only seeing that because the api is not installed by default for sdrplay. In the text file on the pi desktop you’ll find mention of how to get rid of seeing that by installing the api that’s up under /usr/src It won’t really harm anything except create the error. The other option, if you never intend to run sdrplay equipment, is to remove the sdrplay soapy module. I’ll have to get to a pi to get you the steps. I’ll check back in here asap. I bet that may be it with setting maybe nomodeset in grub temporarily until you can boot and install, you may even need to do it on reboot until you can get in and install the nvidia drivers. I have a 30xx something in my laptop, can’t remember the exact model. Good to hear it’s going on the old pc, but I suspect with nomodeset you may be able to get it booted on the tower. Nomodeset is by no means ideal for continued use but at least till you can get drivers (hopefully that’s it) it’s fine. Sent...

When you’re booting and it’s stuck, can you try Ctrl + Alt + F4 to see if it’ll drop to a terminal. I’m thinking of maybe two things that could cause it to hang up assuming the DragonOS download is not corrupt. In the off chance the pc has a Broadcom WiFi card in it I’ve seen an issu me with a driver I’ve put in the live boot or possibly you may need to set nomodeset in grub, but can you share details/model of the PC? That makes total sense. I ended up pulling it and upgrading it over the normal one. Question, I noticed it “recommends” some other packages that do not seem to exist. I looked on the latest ISO and you're right, it's not in there. I would recommend the following if dump1090 is needed vs some of the other options git clone https://github.com/flightaware/dump1090.git cd dump1090 make The binary will be in the directory. If you want it installed system wide you can run sudo make install && sudo ldconfig I just tried it on the latest DragonOS FocalX.

Sorry I hadn't noticed this sooner. I suspect you just do not have enough ram on the Pi3 at 1GB. That would be my guess. I can only think of maybe one time I tried the Pi3 and I think I had to give it a lot of virtual ram. The Zswap z3fold not available is normal though. Although what your seeing sounds like what someone else was seeing and in the end they grabbed a different SD card and burnt it again and was able to proceed. Can you try another SD card?

At one point there was something running some kind of torrent, but I've not managed it myself. What I find is that on SourceForge if you're finding a slow download speed you can stop the download and changed the mirror to somewhere close. It's not a super obvious option, but the mirror can be changed. Just sharing that in case the download speed is prompting you to ask about the torrent.

As a quick test on the latest r35.1 where I fixed SDRAngel I started it like this sdrangel —soapy Added the hifi entry for caribou, changed to 1090 and dropped the adsb Demodulator. Raised gain real high and caught an aircraft or two. That’s promising. So now I’ll see what else will work for adsb. So I was able to just now build the caribou lite code from the main repo making sure to manually change a file as mentioned in the video when I used the fork repo. I also made sure, after initially making a mistake in the config.txt, that it matched as shown in the video. I then rebooted and applied the fix for the gpiomem issue. I didn’t know you were trying via DVD. I’ve never seen that work that I can recall, usually needs to be a USB that you burn the iso to with something like etcher. It’s very and highly likely your download is corrupt. That’s typically what I see when this occurs. You can attempt to download again, check hash, and reburn to a usb as a double check. So back to it not working again and I think I've figured out why. When I compile sdrangel on the Pi5 itself, all is well. I then take out the SD card an insert it into a Pi4, I get the illegal instruction. So there must be some flag or something getting turned on that the Pi5 has that the Pi4 doesn't.. at least that's my though. So the issue is back again in the R35 img. I'm now building SDRangel all over again, but on the Pi4 and I'll see if it runs in both the Pi4 and Pi5 soon as it's done. If...

Quick glance I don’t believe either. The Pi build is built off Ubuntu 22.04 and specific to the Pi and I see it saying the potato is arm so the x86_64 DragonOS Pi64 wouldn’t work either. Sorry! I tried to grab the source for the deb package for 22.04 so I could start there. I'll see if I can find something newer. Is the images needed to go along with what we did before, right? Oh yeah, I recall Lubuntu acting goofy like this. Can you try going to Preferences, LXQT settings, then monitor settings? There's a quick set or something like that option and I'm wondering if changes there will help. I'm doing some searches with this in google "lubuntu menu bar disappears on dual screen" to see if anything stands out.

It mainly boils down to a constraint based on the current technique used to generate the ISO. There’s about a 4GB ish limit that does have something to do with original ISO and I’ve reached about the max compression. There’s a ton crammed down to the current ISO. I’ve thought about some areas I can trim to make room for more applications, just need to look at it closer. Is your MAC aarch64 based or x86_64 based? DragonOS FocalX is x86_64 based. Hope you're still finding DragonOS helpful! I sometimes for whatever reason do not always get alerts to provide support, sorry I missed this months ago.

Thought I responded, I've only tested on the Pi3 B+ (didn't perform well), Pi4 and Pi5. I suspect the OW2 would work, pretty sure it's 64bit.

Not sure how I didn't see this before. That's some really extensive and helpful details on the html within the zip. I'm thinking because SDRPlay API is installed in DragonOS that would be a conflict, so someone would have to uninstall at least the API and proceed with the steps it seems.

Reading up on it now and also installing it, however, I think for all the good things it brings with it - there may be some down sides for general users. For example, it disables webgl which I believe is used by some upcoming SDR applications for web based streaming. Maybe the better thing is that I include the repo preconfigured and upon install something could sudo apt install it, even on a live install. Running into a problem here. The latest HWE kernel for 22.04 is up to 6.5, something in the new ISO too. I pulled the branch for the 6.3 fix, but so far I'm not able to build it on the 6.5 kernel. Have you had success?

Hi and thank you for the feedback. I’ve not had this device but have thought about adding it. My one concern is the space I have remaining to make the iso. I will try to compile everything on my end tonight and see how things go. Perhaps worse case I can make deb packages out of everything and those could be pulled down even on the live image? Poor decision on my part, bascially Focal was based on 20.04 and instead of saying DragonOS Jammy I just said FocalX and that is built on 22.04. I'll have to probably use this image to create a new upload, also I'll update the desktop guide after removing the user from the sudo group, pulling out the soapy lib and putting it to the side. I do have it working now. I’m about to make a video and if it works at the end of the video I’m going to clone the image and share it specifically just for CaribouLite people so they have an out of the box working image. Hello. You installed DragonOS Pi64 and logged in to a background that looks like a motherboard? The applications you are looking for are located under the menu button, bottom left, and then look at Other or Ham Radio. At the command line you can launch using gqrx or CubicSDR. You mention find, as in find at the command prompt? You could instead use which gqrx or which CubicSDR in a terminal if you want to see where they are installed.

I can honestly say I test DragonOS in multiple different ways remotely, so long as a firewall has not been installed/configured there's nothing firewall related that I preconfigure in DragonOS. So on a lan, if you open up a port/service then you should have no issues reaching the service. To you comments on Telnet/SSH. That is true, DragonOS FocalX does not come preinstalled with openssh-server as I did not want to deal with having to redo keys or worry...

Just tested your patch1 and adding to the groups on my end. I would’ve ran it on the Pi5, but didn’t want to remove the cooler right now. Grabbed the Pi4 and it ran the hat just fine with CubicSDR. Change to desktop with ssh, open the getting starter guide and go down to line 16 assuming you don’t have a monitor or hdmi dummy plug hooked up. Make the changes and reboot, use realvnc to connect briefly to the pi and log into the desktop. Right click network manager and see if you can see networks. You shouldn’t need wpa supplicant file, you just use network manager bottom right area of desktop. I guess I didn’t ask/you didn’t mention how exactly you’re trying to connect. Are you doing it command line? Right click network connection manager bottom area of task bar and networks are listed. Put password in and connect. I’m not so much concerned with how you burnt the image, but my understanding is that you have your pi4 booted with DragonOS running on it and that you’re trying to use the internal WiFi on the Pi (no usb WiFi etc)? Hi Mike. Thanks for reporting, but I can't duplicate here. I took a freshed flash Pi with the 34 image and checked "groups" on the Ubuntu user. It shows the user is part of the sudo group. I'm also able to do sudu su and jump to root with the default dragon password. I'm trying to think of why that would've happened to you.

Paul, sorry for the delay. Here's what I did to try to reproduce your error (doesn't happen for me). New flashed Pi w/ latest DragonOS Pi64. I logged in with the default username/password to the desktop. Pulled up a terminal and typed passwd. I changed from the default dragon to logitech1234 after several complaints I was picking something to easy. I then logged out of the desktop and had no issue logging right back in with the new password. I then logged out again, jumped over to another computer...

I just downloaded the ISO, burnt it to a usb with etcher, and cannot replicate what you’re seeing. For me it boots with the lubutnu splash screen and goes right into the DragonOS desktop. When you select the R31 in grub you’re saying that it shows the lubutnu logo but ends in the SigintOS login? I’m not sure what else to try except maybe a different usb stick.
