I stand corrected. Thank you very much for the clarification! My confusion appears to have arisen from the fact that Max.app (apparently) includes the pre-gap for all tracks and gives no other choice, and I've been opening folders with the pregap for track 1 prepended to make that work. I will adjust my workflow accordingly. I apologize for the confusion, and thank you for the very fast response!
