If you're asking if I remade the image, the answer is also in the OP: No, I don't have the drive anymore; Dell took it back.

I saved it with the version baked into PartedMagic 2017; if you need the exact version, I'll need to boot it up, but it doesn't seem germane, unless you know something I don't. My original restore attempt, of course, was with the same version, as noted in the OP.

I tried using a 2015 version, but it wouldn't start up for some reason, on my T410.

Live 2.6.2-20amd64, actually, just downloaded this morning. Same problem: I navigate the mount until I can see the enclosing -img folder, and then say OK, and the menu only includes savedisk and saveparts.

This looks like the common problem -- and since it's so common, a structural fix seems indeicated -- but in my case I'd be happy with being able to restore this client's disk image for which Dell took back the original SSD.
