OK, thanks for these data. It really helped. I was able to reproduce the problem in Windows 10 and you can find as an attachment a pre-version that fixes the issue. FYI, there was two symbol names that were identical on a case insensitive system like Windows (Diamond.svg and diamond.svg). And there was recently a commit in LibreOffice that prevent this to work, so the trouble...

Strange! I'll test it in Windows. For sure, you don't need cygwin!

Hi, what system do you use? I tried this morning in Ubuntu 24.04 with LibreOffice 24.2.4.2 and updating TexMaths (0.52 => 0.52 .1) from the extensions menu worked as expected.

Yes, I confirm that TexMaths can't be used if LibreOffice is installed as a snap or flatpak package. This is because in that case LateX programs can't be launched from LibreOffice.

Ok, thanks. I tested with Windows 10 22H2 64 bits, LibreOffice 7.6.7.2 (last production version, 64 bits, fresh profile), MikTeX 24.1 (64 bits) and TexMaths 0.52 and everything works as expected. No error message. Equation well compiled and displayed. So, here are some ideas: - perhaps you have an older Windows 10 version? - perhaps some security software you installed prevents execution of latex.exe? - could you try to update your LibreOffice version? - are you sure you tested with a fresh LibreOffice...

OK, thanks! Could you try with a fresh LibreOffice profile? Please make a backup of your profile before deleting it. You also need to reinstall TexMaths in that case. Also, be sure you don't have some accented character (é, à, ù, è, etc.) in your user name.

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #186

In fact, version 0.52.1 has not been officially released yet, because there are some issues with it in recent versions of LibreOffice. I was waiting for fixes from the LO team, but its'not ready. However, I'm a bit surprised: where did you get the 0.52.1 version?

    Hi, I tested both examples in Ubuntu 22.04.4 (texlive 2021.20220204-1) with LibreOffice 24.2.4.2 and TexMaths 0.52.1. Equations rendering is as expected (your first drawing). So perhaps it is an issue with your LaTeX compiler in Windows? \begin{tikzcd} N & A \arrow[from=1-2, to=1-1] \end{tikzcd} and \begin{tikzcd} N & A \arrow[l] \end{tikzcd} with LaTeX preamble: \usepackage{amsmath} \usepackage{tikz-cd}

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #185

OK, thanks for the tests. I have the same system and LibreOffice version as you and it works without such an issue, so this puzzles me. So let's try to dig again. Your system uses either Wayland (new way) or Xorg (old way) to display windows and widgets. To check your session type, please do (in a terminal, as a normal user): echo $XDG_SESSION_TYPE You should get either an X11 or Wayland answer. X11 means Xorg. I think you moved the user directory inside ~/.config/libreoffice, am I right? It's safer...

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #185

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #184

Hi, you're right, there are errors in the website and extension site. TexMaths 0.52 requires at least LibreOffice 7.4. I strongly advice you to update to the latest LibreOffice version (24.2.2). You can use a ppa for that (https://launchpad.net/~libreoffice/+archive/ubuntu/ppa) or wait until Ubuntu 24.04.

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #283

To compile Xfe, you need stable FOX 1.6.x not devel 1.7.x.

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #283

Hi, your config.log says: /usr/bin/ld: cannot find -lX11: No such file or directory so you probably didn't install X11 development libraries. You also need the FOX toolkit and some other dependencies.

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #182

No problem. I'll test too. What is the problematic TexLive version (and system)?

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #60

Hi, this is indeed a nice Excel add-in. However, I don't think TexMaths users really need this. Maybe I'm wrong. Anyway, developing such features would be a huge task...

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #250

No problem. Glad to see you managed it!

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #250

Hi, you can add a custom script for that. Please look at the documentation here: http://roland65.free.fr/xfe/index.php?page=docs. It's easy to do. Note that the new release now has native support for Zstd archives. These are very fast and compact.

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #180

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #59

Yes, but obviously the Document Foundation does not have the resources of Microsoft and we can understand that improving macros is not its priority.

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #59

I don't think they will do something like this. The UNO part of LibreOffice does not evolve anymore these days. A solution would be to completely rewrite the UI part of TexMaths using some graphics toolkit (GTK? Qt?) but of course this would require a lot of work and skills that I don't have.

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #179

Yes, rename oxt files to zip and extract. But its simpler to use the LibreOffice basic editor to modify TexMaths.

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #59

Hi, I fully agree with you that TexMaths lacks syntax highlighting. However, due to limitations in LibreOffice UNO text widget (the one used in the TexMaths dialog), it is not possible to apply some text formatting (color, bold, italic, etc.) to the equation text.

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #178

Hi, nice to hear it works now!

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #178

Ok, thanks for these informations. First, the LaTeX code for your equation is not correct. The correct code is: \left[ x(t) = A(t) \times \cos (\omega t ) \right] ('times' instead of 'time' and '\cos' instead of 'cos'). Then, the output of the latex command should be something like this: This is pdfTeX, Version 3.141592653-2.6-1.40.22 (TeX Live 2022/dev/Debian) (preloaded format=latex) restricted \write18 enabled. entering extended mode (./tmpfile.tex LaTeX2e <2021-11-15> patch level 1 L3 programming...

Sorry, I was not clear: the command I gave you was for test purpose. Did it work? Could you send me a screenshot of your TexMaths configuration?

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #178

Hi, this sounds like your system uses pdftex instead of latex for compiling. Could you try this: cd ~/.config/libreoffice/4/user/TexMaths/tmp latex tmpfile.tex This should compile the last entered equation and give a valid tmpfile.dvi.

But this workaround does not work in your case and the rendered image is corrupted. An easy fix is to add the line: fixDashedLines = FALSE at line 630 of the TexMathsTools module (in function ImportGraphicIntoClipboard). However, you will have solid dashed lines when using tikz... For now, I cannot offer a complete solution to the problems encountered with the...

Hi, your LaTeX code snippet seems incomplete or wrong... Could you post the correct code? Thanks.

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #278

OK, I see. The problem arises because Xfe uses its own implementation of the strlcpy() function and this function is now part of the glibc since 2.38. The strlcpy() used in Xfe needs a +1 in the size of the destination string, while the strlcpy() from glibc does not. I'll fix the issue and release a new version in the next days.

  • Roland Baudin Roland Baudin posted a comment on ticket #278

Thanks for the report and the patch. I think the problem is related to the glibc version you have. Do you have glibc version 2.38 or above?

I reported the problem to the LO team. I also discovered that the problem is related to gtk3 rendering. If you launch Impress like this (with qt5 rendering, in Linux), then it is fast: SAL_USE_VCLPLUGIN=qt5 /opt/libreoffice7.6/program/simpress
