    Craig, Like all your suggestions! Buying new microphones - what a great endless sink for my resources. I WOULD love to have a nice set of SDCs, though.... And I hear great things about boundary mikes. I would love to see a pic to better understand where you are placing yours, although I don't have $300-400 right now to get a new PCC160 or AT871 , I will keep my eyes open on ebay, etc. Like your ideas about making a series of very controlled recordings and then A-B ing them later. It really is hard...

    Interesting ideas plimptm! I, too, am curious about the the more quality binaural wearable Mic/headphone sets at the URL you suggest. I think they are more intended for the person who wants better audio while shooting video with their phone. In this particular case, I think my movements while playing would produce undesirable changes in levels, etc. Also, most of these mike/headsets are designed to be plugged into a phone (lightning connector) and are not really amenable to breaking out separate...

    I am interested in what pianists are using to mike their acoustic pianos for on-line planing with others. It seems that requirements are somewhat different than for recording. One wants isolation between pianist and instrument to best follow "rule #1" and not hear the piano too much directly. I have been using a large diaphram condensor underneith my Yahama C7 with the lid closed. I play using noise cancelling, tight fitting headphones.
