You add the repository first, just follow the instructions here: https://launchpad.net/~pj-assis/+archive/ubuntu/ppa But has I said, you can just download the packages you need and install them by cd into the download directory and run something like 'sudo dpkg -i *.deb' This wil install all deb packages in the current directory. You also need the matching package for libguvcview You can just add the ppa to your apt sources, but if you want to install the deb files directly just remove the installed packages, then from the directory you downloaded the files: sudo dpkg -i PACKAGE_NAME1 PACKAGE_NAME2 Where package_name is the deb file, the first package in the list should be libguvcview then guvcview Regards, A segunda, 4/05/2026, 08:22, anchor anchor@users.sourceforge.net escreveu: Thanks, I went to this page https://launchpad.net/~pj-assis/+archive/ubuntu/ppa...

Well I've run some tests in tumbleweed with a similar version of ffmeg and everything worked has expected, tried with h264 codec, no problems. But my output has I expected is much more detailed than yours. It seems there is something a bit off with the ubuntu version. Can you try with the 2.2.2 version from my ppa: ppa:pj-assis/ppa It was built from the latest git version You can choose between the regular gtk package or the qt one. Ok, so you are getting this libav error: ENCODER: Error libav_get_encode: -541478725 I guess enconding is failing for whatever codec you selected. Apart from that only gtk warnings and some v4l2 control errors. Audio is overflowing probably because it's waiting for video frames and not getting them. Still seems to be missing information in the output. There should be two listings there, one for the selected video device, with all available controls and framerates, and another one with the available...

Hi, this doesn't seem the full output for guvcview --verbosity=3 It's missing a lot of expected information. Try redirecting the output to a file: guvcview --verbosity=3 > guvcout.txt 2>&1 Then try recording video with some video codec set Regards, Paulo A domingo, 3/05/2026, 15:36, anchor anchor@users.sourceforge.net escreveu: Thanks, Here is the data from guvcview --help Guvcview version 2.2.2 Usage: guvcview [OPTIONS] OPTIONS:-h,--help :Print help-v,--version :Print version-w,--verbosity=LEVEL...

The full command is 'guvcview -- verbosity=3' You can check the full argument list for guvcview with 'guvcview --help' This really seems a issue with ubuntu libav version., I don't have any ubuntu machine for testing, so it will be hard for me to debug any problems. I can only check the build logs on my ppa. I can also run some tests on the latest tumbleweed and manjaro. Hi, Have you tried changing the video codec in the top menu? It could be some compatability issue with ubuntu libavcodec version. Try launching from the console with --verbosity=3 and check the output for errors.
