Thank you for your response. After choosing where I have the database in the filesystem, Data Crow ends without, it seems, ever appearing in the task bar, leaving the lock file in place. I have looked at the guide but don't understand how to pursue that. I attach the log just in case something simple is apparent to you from that. Thanks.

Is it possible to repair a corrupt database, or is the only option to restore from a backup?
