The other OS that I installed is Emmabuntus. I followed your instructions above exactly and got no errors, but when I rebooted, it still boots in the Emmabuntus grub.
I wanted to try out a different OS, so using gparted, I made a new partition for it. I installed the other OS, and it installed it own grub. Now I want to get Peppermints grub back. I read where you should boot into the original OS (Peppermint) and run in the terminal: sudo grub-install /dev/sda and then run sudo update-grub I did that, but the computer booted up still using the other OS's grub. Then I noticed on gparted that the boot/efi partition is actually /dev/sda1 So I did the process again...
I just downloaded the latest Debian version of Peppermint with the xfce de. I also downloaded the latest Devuan version of Peppermint, also with the xfce de. I have installed Peppermint (Debian based) on 4 desktops in the last week and on each one, I'm having the same problem. When I try to do an update using the cli updater, the updater stalls and never quits. I have to close the terminal and that seems to lock the computer up. Then I have to do a hard shutdown by holding in the start button, and after restarting, I have to update using Synaptic. Has anyone else had this problem ?
