Hi Apologies for leaving this for a while; the X server says it's got a huge width, so wxWidgets (and therefore 4Pane) can only believe it. Is there a way (in a config file, or command-line arguments) to set the initial window size on opening? I couldn't see one in the online manual but I may have just missed it. Thanks Paul

wxDisplay::GetCount() returns 1, which I suppose isn't surprising given xdpyinfo output, so there might not be much you can do here I guess. :-(

As a data point, copying the null check does fix the crash. That said, it's a bit hard to follow what the code's doing, but it doesn't feel like a good fix.
