Just in case someone is curious five years later, here is a list of "Active" keys for all levels Level1 627d Level2 f94f Level3 705e Level4 cf2a Level5 463b Level6 dd09 Level7 5418 Level8 a3e0 Level9 2af1 The keys are derived from the level name by a variant of CRC-16 (like this, only byte-swapped https://crccalc.com/?crc=Level9&method=CRC-16%2FMCRF4XX&datatype=ascii&outtype=hex)

Small Device C Compiler (SDCC)
Sorry, it seems that I've mixed something up. I've re-tested it and I see that SDCC 4.1.0 produces the expected optimal code. The bug can be closed.
