This works! To be explicit, after trying a number of variations, the key to getting the Clonezilla live USB to boot on a Mac is to: Format USB stick as GUID partition table & FAT Unzip clonezilla live zip into the root of newly-formatted USB stick Thank you @steven_shiau! This will successfully boot when EFI boot is activated (hold Option key while booting up).
