For the sake of clarity: I am running MacOS 14.4.1 with version 5.3.0. When I open a layout file that was saved with under 5.2.2, layers appear on the map as expected. When I open a layout file that was saved under 5.3.0, layers do not appear on the map as expected until I go and manually reselect On Map for each layer. I have verified this functions as expected on Windows. I have not tested this on Linux. It seems to be MacOS specific that is not handling the additional data elements. I compiled...

Sure thing. Here is a quick test layout. When the turnout path is normal, the entire track is highlighted and the train can pass through. When the turnout path is set to reverse, only a portion of the turnout is highlighted and the train cannot pass through.

I see. I created a new account on my computer and still cannot see the map after saving a file. If it is working for you, it may be MacOS specific. UPDATE: Works as advertised on my wife's Windows machine.
