Hey Dominik, Are you one of the developers? Do any of the developers come here and read these comments? Or is it all participants and mods? Regards, Alan
Hi Paul, I do not know how to turn "on the version check / check manually," and to tell you the truth, I just do not have the inclination to do that right now. What I did do is go to "help>about Keepass," which reports I am running version 1.41. So I am satisfied with the fix I accidentally discovered. Maybe it will help somebody else in the future. I am including a screenshot below. In my opinion, there is something strange about the routine that automatically checks the version number. It likely...
Hello wellread1 and Paul, Here is a little update: I turned off the automatic version check, because one of you had told me that the previous version is perfectly safe. A couple of days later I noticed that it was reporting that I had version 1.41. Apparently, the routine that checks to see if you have the current version has a bug. For about a week now, I have not had any reverting. And I am now beginning to wonder if it reverted at all or whether that was just an error in some configuration file...
Hey Paul, Where is the "target symbol"? After I have dragged the target symbol to Keepass, where in this very busy and complicated screen do I look? Regards, Alan
Hello wellread1 and Paul, The version of Acronis that I have is many years old. I do not have a subscription to their service. I use it to strictly backup my computer to an external hard drive. I do that every 3 to 6 months, which is probably not frequently enough. I am not having this problem with other software or earlier versions of Keepass. I also noticed that there are some configuration files here: C:\Users\xxxx\AppData\Roaming\KeePass I am wondering if there may be a problem there? Regards,...
Hello Paul, Yes! I am absolutely certain there is no other Keepass.exe on my computer. This situation is exactly as I have been saying all along. I am including a screenshot from when I right-clicked on the file, chose properties, and chose details. I am pretty sure there must be a bug in this edition of Keepass. Maybe it's in a configuration file of some type. I am not a developer and do not have the ability to troubleshoot this type of bug. I have been using Keepass for years and have never had...
Hello Paul and wellread1, It looks like it reverted again. I am enclosing a screenshot of the reg query commands. Please not that they PLAINLY showed that this is pointing to the new directory where I had installed Keepass 1.4. I am quite sure nothing on my computer is changing it, and I really wonder if there is some kind of bug in the Keepass code that causes it to revert? I do not know what to do about this at all and I am feeling frustrated and at wits end. Regards, Alan
Hello Paul, I did as he suggested. I am including the screenshot. Regards, Alan
