Just happened to me (again) after I decrypted the entire drive (2tb) upgraded to 25H2 which rebooted fine until I encrypted and installed the hidden OS in the encrypted second partition and then, per VC steps, re-booted. It hung on the reboot and as usual it was the BOOTMGR file which had been changed by "NT SERVICE\TrustedInstaller" which then owns the new BOOTMGR. It is VC which Idrix has not updated to accommodate the Win11 25H2 BOOTMGR, which I would have thought would be a simple enough task...

I don't get your problem. You said your drive is system encrypted, that means the first partition. I've done the hard yards for you and uploaded the file you need, bootmgr. All you need to do is use another hard drive (or SSD), install Veracrypt, open Veracrypt and then search for your decoy OS/partition and open that as a container, ensuring you tick the boxes I said to in my previous post. Then, rename current bootmgr (say as bootmgr_) and copy over the file I uploaded for you. BINGO - it will...

Don't muck around with other crap like Diskcryptor , Bitlocker etc. None of the, without exception, come anywhere near Veracrypt for security and functionality. Providing you have the nous to be able to follow instructions and set up a hidden OS, the only contender is DCPP but that is proprietary, non-open source and damn expensive. They both go back to the original designer who is in prison now for around 7 murders (hits) and global drug running, but he was and probably still is the original genius...

Legacy BIOS. Win11 24H2 Enterprise downloaded from https://uupdump.net then installed with Rufus (no tpm etc) on a 2tb sata SSD (nothing with the controller on the card, must be SSD where controller is on the motherboard). set CSM to enabled on motherboard (in future, you will need to use AMD not Intel as Intel has scrubbed CSM after Z790), activate Enterprise with digital license which, being Enterprise, will last forever (unlike Pro) - plenty of digital license activators around look for KMSauto,...

Apologies for the late response. Yes, I have the solution. As follows: 1. My Win11 Veracrypt setup with hidden OS 24H2 is purely experimental. My solution above I therefore only applied to my hidden OS (read the above). I had not, at the time of posting in the thread above, applied it yet to the decoy OS. I assumed simplicity. As you indicated above, I was wrong. It was not simple. 2. I replaced the 24H2 bootmgr file with the 23H2 bootmgr file in my hidden OS by simply opening the hidden OS as a...

I can assure you that Veracrypt is NOT a "piece of crap software". It is anything but. It is the ONLY freeware open source high end OTFE package with hidden OS and complete plausible deniability on the face of the earth. Microsoft and Intel are the culprits here, not the venerable line of software ending with Veracrypt (for the time being) and starting with E4M (encryption for the masses). It's been around a long, long time. Learn to use it and you will be amazed.

Unless Idrassi does some coding changes, your only option will be to port (copy) the bootmgr from your older copy of Win 11 to the new copy. It's trivial, no experience required. A assume you have set up a hidden OS as well? Both the decoy and hidden OS will need to have a transfusion of old ---> new bootmgr otherwise you will not be able to boot. To copy the old bootmgr to the hidden OS, just open the hidden OS while in your decoy OS (it will open as a container) and copy the file. I can't recall...

As an Intel man running a Z790, I just had a look at the BIOS specs for the new Z890 systems - Evga no longer makes boards, so it's only Asus, Giga, Asrock and MSI now as far as I know (plus OEM Intel). All of these have dropped CSM, there is no longer after the Z790 any capacity to run 16 bit BIOS overlay, so it's UEFI all the way now, which of course, means for future Intel boards, Veracrypt hidden OS will no longer be possible. I think I'll hijack this thread over to "feature requests" and see...
