I realise this is an OLD discussion but I am not sure I understand the resolution. I am following along some of the examples in the Programmer's Guide and find that the example in the section "11.7 Recursive Subprograms" will not compile because is complains that the RETURNING item is not defined in LINKAGE SECTION. The code of the example is below as are the compiler error messages. In my eyes either the compiler has a bug or the example in the manual is wrong. Whch is it please? IDENTIFICATION...

Hi, I am trying your tools for the first time. I picked gc03yesno as the first one to try. When I compile gc03yesno.cob it complains that the module curs_set is not found. Where do I find this please? Thanks

quote:"this actually seems a quirk of the MSVC linker" confirmed. MinGW compiler works to debuggable exe perfectly. On a different note, i think you may need a separate forum for Gix-IDE soon. This thread is going to become one of those humungous multi multi page threads that noone can follow, and that would be a shame.

Thanks. But not quite: If I change the Build Type to Dynamically Loaded it just gives the error "Process finished with exit code 1 (0x0000001)" when running for debug in an error dialog - but if I delete the whole project and before building it change it to Dynamically loaded (and No preprocess for EQSL) then it debugs fine. I can live with that. This is a fantastic product you are working on. Great job!

HI Marco, The program I am trying to debug is the Hello program that your IDE creates as a skeleton when the "File | New project/Project collection" item is invoked. The only difference is that I wiped the LINKAGE SECTION out. See attachment To recap: If I run this program it cannot find the symbol data but if I load and run test000, it can, and debugs perfectly.

Hello Marco, Many thanks for the reply. I felt the preprocessing had to be per-project so it seemed odd it be in the IDE preferences. I couldn't find the project settings - I hadn't clicked the project name in the collection window! I'm afraid that after setting the preprocessing off, cleaning and rebuilding the debugging refuses to work. It works fine if I load up test000 but won't work in Hello! I have attached the debugging as requested. I have also done the same for test000 so you can compare...
