unfortunately, the "author" of veracrypt did not understand any of this and does not know how to deal with it. all his achievements over the years have been correcting typos and other cosmetic work. the problem with veracrypt is that the project did not have and does not have a sufficiently qualified programmer. and of course, he removes any critical reviews, but this is expected from the likes of him This language really annoys me; it's abusive toward @idrassi and also misunderstands the problem...

So, I've been thinking "on" and "off" about this issue for the past few years. My guess is I was very much "on to something" in my long-ago post over here in this other related thread: https://sourceforge.net/p/veracrypt/discussion/technical/thread/fc589d0229/#f716/be84/6763 Specifically: I had an idea about what could be going on but it is just a wild guess. The IoThreadProc appears to be popping work off of a shared queue and processing that work one job at a time. As part of that work, in this...
Hi @enigma2illusion, Alas, my machine that (used to) experienced the freezing issues died a few years ago. My latest laptop does not experience the problem ever for a few years now using Veracrypt's full-disk encryption. I therefore have no way to test this for you anymore :-/ However, that being said, when I previously was encountering Veracrypt-triggered freezes, I had approached the problem from this angle and had reverted as far back as version 1.18 from 1.23ish. Despite this, the freezes were...
Alternatively if your particular model is ancient and is known to sell on ebay for cheap, that might be another option. But I honestly worry that the issue might relate to specific 'instances' of hardware and thus ideally I'd be able to debug on a 'known broken' system.
So, remember a few years back I was troubleshooting this issue and I felt I was making a decent amount of progress with tracing through what was going on in the Veracrypt driver via a debug build of the driver. But, alas, I eventually diagnosed the issue as a hardware / power management one (not whatever is going on here). My old laptop (exhibiting the issue) ultimately died shortly after. My new laptop does not experience the bug. I've stress tested it in various ways and no freezes whatsoever....
this is an absolutely wild assumption, because 99.9% of users use the universal Windows driver or a chipset driver(if someone bothers to install it) Perhaps, yet I've had two different laptops now with SSDs, and neither with this constant freezing problem. (Yes, as previously mentioned my prior laptop had issues when Veracrypt was in play, but only on power source transitions. And I also was able to diagnose the laptop as having defective power regulation eventually.) I'm certainly open to other...
Hey, I've been monitoring this thread for a long while now. (I previously found it because I was looking for reasons my Dell XPS 9550 laptop was freezing up upon switching from AC to battery. I eventually diagnosed the issue as a power management one and indeed the motherboard-hosted power supply for the laptop died eventually. So I believe my original issues were unrelated.) ANYway..... I have a new Dell XPS 9510 laptop for the last 2-ish years. It has a Koxia NVMe 4TB m.2 SSD. UEFI boot. I've been...
