#582 SATA + DMA Incompatible with VIA VT8251 Southbridge

The Kernel does not recognise the VIA VT8251 Chipset on
installation. If an SATA drive used, the installation
will not recognise any hard drives and will abort.
Installing an ATA (parallel) drive will work, however,
but DMA is disabled which means the drive is running
slow (bad for logging/cache?).

Information on patching the Kernel are available at the

That patch won't work as ipcop currently uses the 2.4 kernel and not hte 2.6 kernel.

Several SATA combinations will not work wit IPCop v1.4.x
No easy fixes either because of lacking driver support.
