I have Privoxy configured to start as a service in
DrakXServices, but it doesn't start. If I attempt to
start it manually from DrakXServices it fails with the
following error:
"can't open logfile: /var/log/privoxy/logfile"

If I attempt to start Privoxy from the command line by
entering:
/etc/rc.d/init.d/privoxy start
I get the same error.

My logfile has the following permissions:
-rw-rw-rw- 1 privoxy daemon 154978 Jun 15 23:22
logfile

So I can't see why it can't be opened. However those
permissions keep being reset to something like
-r--------, but I don't know how or why that resetting
is happening. It seems to happen at every reboot.

The /etc/rc.d/init.d/privoxy file contains the
following line:
PRIVOXY_USER="daemon"

I'm new to Linux, and am struggling to figure this all
out....

same problem here. it has been running for a while (couple of
weeks) ans stopped for no apparent reason. may have
something to do with log rotating? even setting permissions
to -rwxrwxrwx has no effect. same error.

Unfortunately the problem is with a package supplied by
Mandrake. The problem is in the packaging and installation,
not the Privoxy code. And, at this time, we have no
    officially supported Mandrake packages.

I would look at the logrotate script Mandrake has provided.
But beyond that, I think the bug report needs to go to
Mandrake, so they can fix whatever it is.
