All functionality of nocc works except it wont send
mail or add attachments.
Have tried setting $default_smtp_server but to no
avail.
Turning on E_NOTICE on in the debug options results in
the following messages on sending a mail:
Warning: Undefined variable: attach_array
in /export/web/dante/html/nocc/send.php on line 129
Warning: Undefined variable: PHPSESSID
in /export/web/dante/html/nocc/functions.php on line

have tested sendmail as per other bug report with:
<?php
mail("yourmail@isp.com", "My Subject", "This is a test");
?>
this works.
Os :redhat 7.1 using redhats php-imap rpms.

Try the latest release of NOCC v0.9.4

I am observing the same behavior on a RedHat 7.0 machine
with 0.9.4.

Did you fill in the $domains[]->smtp or
$default_smtp_server variables in NOCC's conf.php file ?
Logged In: YES

Yes. Everything appears to be filled in as required. Even
tried it without filling them in. I also get the same error
messages as listed here in the original bug summary if I
turn on E_NOTICE.
A trivial PHP page to test sending, as described in a
follow up here, also works for me. The problem seems to be
directly related to NOCC somehow.

I will try this week-end with Apache + PHP RPM on a redhat
7.1 and will tell you what to do.
I think, this could be a bug in rpm version of PHP.

Maybe. However, the trivial PHP send example did work. But
then again, I did backdate to the previous NOCC release
last night and experienced the same problem.

here write/send works, so does attachments.
although to make attachments viewable after uploading to
server I had to copy the following from the reply case to
the write case in action.php
// We add the attachments of the original message
list($num_attach, $attach_array) = save_attachment($servr,
$user, stripslashes($passwd), $folder, $mail, $tmpdir);
// Registering the attachments array into the session
session_register('num_attach', 'attach_array');
Setup:
nocc v0.9.4
freebsd/4.2, Apache/1.3.14, PHP/4.0.3pl1, qmail, vpopmail
through tcpserver.
Personally I have a problem making send work with reply,
reply to all and forward. the webinterface works fine, but
no mails gets send. perhaps someone can clue me in on this one?
well this is my first posting on sourceforge, pardon my
mistakes if any, just gotta get started. I'm Casper from
Denmark. (Still waiting for the mail acknowledgement from
sourceforge for the account I just created therefore no login).

Got the same error:
Warning: Undefined variable: attach_array
in /export/web/dante/html/nocc/send.php on line 129
Warning: Undefined variable: PHPSESSID
in /export/web/dante/html/nocc/functions.php on line

Found the reason:
It is going to the 'default' switch. If you pressed Send it
should go to the switch 'send'. It goes to default because
$sendaction = ' send' (with a whitespace in front of send).
To correct this:
edit the following line in send.php:
switch ($sendaction)
to
switch (trim($sendaction))

Unfortunatley, the suggested fix made no difference.
Watching both /var/log/messages and /var/log/maillog, I can
see that the only thing that is happening on the system
when I send is that my pop3 daemon is hit to provide the
data for the inbox display. I'm new to debugging php, so I
haven't been able to determine where in the source the send
is dying.

Hi Tad,
Got it up and running. Can't really remember all the places
I made changes. So let's take it from the top:
Is $default_smtp_server set in conf.php?
Your are running on a UNIX box, right?

Morten

Yep. Tried with it set to my domain mail server, tried
localhost, and tried no value at all. None make any
difference. Also, no error message is generated anywhere in
any log.
I can view my mail just fine. Just can't send any.

Hi
Try to insert the following aprox. in line 67 in send.php,
just after " $mail->bcc = cut_address($mail_bcc, $charset);"
while (list ($key, $val) = each ($mail)) {
echo "$key = $val\n";
}
Then try to send a mail. You will get a page something like
this:
parts = Array to = Array cc = Array bcc = Array from =
subject = body = headers = X-Originating-Ip:
[212.242.60.62] X-Mailer: NOCC v0.9.4 crlf = smtp_server =
salomon smtp_port = 25 charset = ISO-8859-1
Then view the source of the html-doc. Paste it in your
reply. What I'm expecting is that there is an error in
from =
Should look like this:
from = <email@address.com>

Morten

Did what you asked, here's what I got:
parts = Array to = Array cc = Array bcc = Array from = <
tad@tadland.net> subject = body = headers =
X-Originating-Ip: [192.168.1.16] X-Mailer: NOCC v0.9.4 crlf
= smtp_server = mail.tadland.net smtp_port = 25 charset =
ISO-8859-1
Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already
sent by (output started at /var/www/shtml/nocc/send.php:72)
in /var/www/shtml/nocc/send.php on line 101
Hope this helps!

Please confirm that there is a newline just after from = <

There is no newline. That is just an artifact of the
sourceforge system.

Sorry for the delay, and sorry to report: Yes, the bug is
still present. No error messages, nothing in logs. Send
simply does not happen.

hi,
i've had the same problem, but i used a fix that worked
for me:
in send.php add on line 12 the following statements:
echo "thalist:$mail_to:$mail_cc:$mail_bcc:\n";
$mail_from = trim($mail_from);
$mail_to = trim($mail_to);
$mail_cc = trim($mail_cc);
$mail_bcc = trim($mail_bcc);
$mail_subject = trim($mail_subject);
echo "thalist:$mail_to:$mail_cc:$mail_bcc:\n";
then you notice that there are newlines in the
addresses, i think is't a kind of bug in PHP related to
redhat7.0/php
the trim function does the fix trick!
(i don't know if i trimmed all the variables needed.....)

The trims seem to have fixed the problem. nicocha, will this
be in the next release?

I have the same problem using NOCC 0.9.4 from CVS dated
2001-07-20, except I am using Slackware (NOT RedHat). I am
also using PHP v4.0.4 compiled directly into Apache 1.3.19
(NOT using the CGI method of PHP) and Sendmail 8.11.4.
I have tried specifying the SMTP server explicitly for each
host I allow mail checking for, and have tried leaving
those entires blank. When doing the 'line 12'
modifications as suggested, I get the following error:
Warning: Cannot send session cache limiter - headers
already sent (output started
at /shared/www/talonmicro/mail/send.php:12)
in /shared/www/talonmicro/mail/conf.php on line 135
Warning: Cannot add header information - headers already
sent by (output started
at /shared/www/talonmicro/mail/send.php:12)
in /shared/www/talonmicro/mail/send.php on line 111
...the 'line 12' modification seems to be missing some
important steps, or has the line number to insert in file
send.php WRONG.

...oh yeah, here is the error generated by sendmail:
sendmail[12717]: f6VKg3d12717: =?ISO-8859-1?Q?

Okay... I think I found something -- Send and Reply both
work perfectly UNTIL you try and include the real name in a
reply. For example:
To: johndoe@nobody.loopback.edu -- WORKS!
To: John Doe <johndoe@nobody.loopback.edu> -- FAILS!
NOCC will format Reply messages like the second example
above, including the real name and the email address within
brackets. SMTP accepts this formatting, but NOC has PHP do
some sort of conversion to the address since it contains
<>'s, and that's what breaks sendmail.
I'm looking into send.php to find out how to fix this
(which may take a while, since I'm a Perl guy not a PHP
guy). Whatever the case, NOCC needs to know to
format "To:" addresses just like they are supplied, as in:
Firstname Lastname <email_address>
...and NOCC needs to not try and mess with the <>'s in that
line, since the SMTP server (or sendmail) NEEDS it JUST
like that.

Please try latest CVS. The SMTP code now includes error
reporting.
