JUnit 5 is the next generation of JUnit. The goal is to create an up-to-date foundation for developer-side testing on the JVM. This includes focusing on Java 8 and above, as well as enabling many different styles of testing. We ask you – our users – to support us so we can keep up the pace. We will continue our work on JUnit regardless of how many donations we receive. However, your support would enable us to do so with greater focus and not only on weekends or in our spare time. For example, we want to meet regularly and work colocated for a few days in order to get things done faster in face-to-face design and coding sessions. Selenium automates browsers. That's it! What you do with that power is entirely up to you. Primarily it is for automating web applications for testing purposes, but is certainly not limited to just that. Boring web-based administration tasks can (and should) also be automated as well. If you want to create robust, browser-based regression automation suites and tests, scale and distribute scripts across many environments, then you want to use Selenium WebDriver, a collection of language specific bindings to drive a browser - the way it is meant to be driven. If you want to create quick bug reproduction scripts, create scripts to aid in automation-aided exploratory testing, then you want to use Selenium IDE; a Chrome and Firefox add-on that will do simple record-and-playback of interactions with the browser. If you want to scale by distributing and running tests on several machines and manage multiple environments from a central point.

TestNG is a testing framework inspired from JUnit and NUnit but introducing some new functionalities that make it more powerful and easier to use, such as annotations, or the possibility to run your tests in arbitrarily big thread pools with various policies available (all methods in their own thread, one thread per test class, etc.). You can test that your code is multithread safe, there is flexible test configuration, support for data-driven testing (with @DataProvider), support for parameters, powerful execution model (no more TestSuite). There is a supported by a variety of tools and plug-ins (Eclipse, IDEA, Maven, etc.), it also embeds BeanShell for further flexibility, and there is default JDK functions for runtime and logging (no dependencies), and dependent methods for application server testing. TestNG is designed to cover all categories of tests, unit, functional, end-to-end, integration, etc.
