DeskWink
DeskWink connects compatible web-based AI assistants to selected folders on a user's computer through the Model Context Protocol (MCP). A local command-line interface (CLI) pairs with a remote MCP endpoint, allowing clients such as ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini to browse, read, and search files, and propose edits. DeskWink previews proposed changes for user approval before applying them. Users choose which folders to share, while sensitive paths and files such as .env and .ssh are blocked by default. File contents are not stored in DeskWink's database or logs. DeskWink is in closed beta, with published beta limits of two computers and 5,000 AI actions per month. The service targets developers and other professionals who want AI assistants to work with local project or work folders. A Windows and macOS CLI is documented.

Glass Desktop Box
Glass Desktop Box is Windows software for organizing local files in visual workspaces and sharing selected files or folders. Users arrange items in customizable Desktop Boxes, create tabs and folder links, add notes, and choose static or animated backgrounds. A Windows host can invite colleagues, clients, or friends to access a shared workspace or exchange files through a browser link; guests can upload and download without installing the desktop app or creating an account. Transfers use a direct peer-to-peer connection when possible, with a relay fallback, and shared files are not kept in permanent cloud storage. PIN-protected access and live chat are available during sharing. The software serves individuals and teams that want to organize projects locally while sharing files across devices. The host application runs on Windows; recipients can join using browsers on Windows, Mac, Linux, iPhone, iPad, or Android.
