    "Beware the "service charge" you'll pay to tip using Tippy"

    Pros: Easy to use. Sits at the check out desk. Apparently, the owner thinks they no longer have to keep any cash on hand.

    Cons: I had a blowout at a well-known dry bar salon. I had only 20s so I asked at the front desk if she could break one s I could leave a tip. She couldn't even give me two 10s! So she said I could use their Tippy machine. Said the money would go directly to the stylist. Great, I thought. Only after you push the pay button does Tippy reveal it has added an 8% service charge. Sheesh. The bottom line is that for this and some other reasons, I have never patronized that salon again.
