Pros: Shop Pay makes checkout fast, secure, and effortless—saving customer info for one-click purchases...

Cons: While ShopPay advertises protection against fraud, sellers still need to perform their own fraud screening to avoid costly chargebacks. A common ShopPay scam occurs when a customer claims an “Item Not as Described” dispute. Credit card companies typically side with the buyer in these cases — leaving merchants with no real defense, even when the product was delivered exactly as ordered.

We experienced this firsthand when a customer placed two high-value orders shipped to a freight forwarder and never heard from the buyer again. Both packages were signed for and confirmed delivered, yet the buyer filed “item not as described” chargebacks and received full refunds. Despite providing detailed tracking, delivery proof, and our attempted communication records, we still lost both disputes. ShopPay refused coverage, stating this type of claim isn’t recognized as fraud under their protection policy. Same buyer tried to do the same purchase months later on another website of ours (2) separate orders again.

Overall: If you use ShopPay or Shopify Payments, always implement your own fraud prevention measures, especially for high-ticket orders or freight forwarding addresses. Never rely solely on the platform’s built-in protection — “Item Not as Described” scams remain one of the biggest loopholes in online payment security.

Pros: Nothing. Shop Pay will hijack your shopping experience to where you can't verify a purchase before it happens.It just happens. It's horrifying. I have inadvertently ordered the wrong merchandise. Because I can't verify my order. It just goes through with basically no consent. This is the worst scam going right now. And there's no way I can get out of it. There's no phone number and the chat goes nowhere and they're getting away with it: my money and yours!

Cons: Everything. I had to cancel the credit cards that were somehow linked with this thing inadvertently. It's basically fraud. Do NOT give these people your information. You will regret it.

Overall: It's horrible. I wish I had never heard of shop pay. I don't know how to divorce them. I'm sure the blood-sucking is intended. I'm waiting to see how they latch onto my new credit card information, because I am NOT giving it to them ever again. But I think they will get it because they are unethical leeches.

Pros: RCVD a email stating on a credit check they did on me. How in the f did they get my social security number? I hope they all go to jail!

Cons: Illegal activity they should be in prison. Report also to Better Business Bureau

Overall: Was forced to use it when checking out at Migardner. Going to be my last order from them too!

Cons: Shop Pay Checkout will take over the checkout page of your site if the customer has the used ShopPay ever (has cookie).

The Shop Pay checkout page overrides the sites checkout page and is "almost" impossible to get out of. There is a tiny link "Checkout as a Guest" that will return the standard checkout page, but it is at the bottom of the page and tiny, like a 6pt. font. Customers will never find it and just abandon the checkout.

This extra checkout page cost us more money in lost checkouts then I care to divulge, suffice it say in was over six figures.

Pros: Nothing. Awful experience.

Cons: They keep popping up uninvited. Kept trying to use my own payment options (store cards!!! They kept overriding my Macy's cards) communication is nil & have to download their app to find out where your stuff is. No phone number. It is awful. I have no way to track shipments or refunds or anything.
Beware!!! My Macy's, Ugg, and Sundance purchases all screwed up.

Overall: They have created way more problems than they are worth. I guess if you have no other way to pay???

Pros: Half decent processing capability in Canada but, internationally, they suck. PayPal and other providers don't are way more efficient.

Pros: Nothing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stay away they rob you and then you wont get refund between affirm and shop pay are the worst thieves there are.

Cons: Stay away from this app if you don't want to loose your money like I did. This app is a scam and then you wont get your refund back lost $300 dollars with shop pay and affirm eve when I have the emails from a month back of the cancelation of purchase. Stay away.

Cons: They are constantly sending me payment due emails even I didn't buy anything and got an email saying I have a loan with them and and it's charged off.

Pros: Lots of merchants to compare prices and get the best deal, lots of different products available at one location.

Cons: They don’t perform due diligence to ensure that the stores within their market place are legit

Overall: Buyer beware!!! Shop does not perform any due diligence when allowing merchants onto their platform. Meaning, that if a merchant charges you, and Shop closes their accounts or bans them, you have no way to recover your money. Their exact response is that they cannot issue refunds because solely the merchant can. I’d recommend buying directly from your vendor at their own website rather than through the shop app to make sure you’re not getting scammed.

Pros: The ease of not having to enter all your info each time you make a purchase from different shops........OTHERWISE... NOTHING!

Cons: They do not verify or vet merchants/shops selling on their platform, and offer no support if you get scammed!! NEVER BUY ANYTHING FROM ZARETS!!! it's a scam storefront! I thought I was reordering from Momofuku, but they just use their stock images, took my order/money... but NO WAY of contacting the store (Zarets) only a hotmail email address. SHOP customer support was not helpful, and they do not ensure the legitimacy of the vendors on their platform. Never again. If I could give Negative stars I would.

Overall: Do not use this App to buy anything. Terrible customer support (none!) and they allow scammers to sell on their platform.

Pros: This company will auto fill any address you used to send others items. When I checked out with my billing address, it was not until after I checked out, paid with Shop Pay and received an hour later that my package was sent out of state to someone else I sent something to months ago. There was NO to address on the check out - just billing. Shop Pay refused to do anything about it and the merchant does not change shipping to addresses.

Cons: Avoid. They will leave you stranded. They need to change their app and STOP using autofill for previous addresses you have sent items to.

I am not the first person who has fallen into this problem they created.

Overall: Customer service refused to acknowledge that they auto fill previous addresses and refused to stop payment. I will now call my bank and stop pmt. to Affirm/Shop Pay.

Pros: Ease for check out is the only advantage if shop pay, and I do get email receipts. Otherwise I want to be able to opt out of all other notifications, and I do not want Shop Pay to collect my data nor my tracking information for my shipments.

Pros: Speed. I cannot say anything else that is positive about Shop Pay. I am going to find out how to discontinue using it.

Cons: Lack of accuracy or support.
I ordered gifts to be sent to my friend. The order I placed a few days later defaulted to my friend's address!!!! It also defaulted to my last payment card number instead of my business number. Support is email only.

Overall: I am sorry I used Shop Pay. I don't want to use it ever again. This is the worst payment experience I have ever had.

Pros: Not having to enter shipping info and credit card info for each order and tracking is useful. I’m having to search for pros.

Cons: I was entering a payment last night as one of four payments to Cowhides Direct via Affirm. Arranged by Shop Pay. Would not take my Visa on file. Said only debit card. Against my better judgment I entered debit card. Declined. Tried it again. Declined. Well, you get the picture. My bank called, suspecting fraudulent activity. Four hits on the debit card!! We cancelled debit card and I cancelled Shop Pay. Not worth it.

Overall: Not worth the trouble!!! Unscrupulous.

Pros: Looks pretty and that is about all it has going for it. Plenty of white space and it is a good clean looking interface.

Cons: Doesn't work well and has usability bugs. Issues with the address map. Issues with zip code validation. Issues with phone number validation. Issues with configured discounts not being added.

Overall: I cringe when using Shop Pay is my only option. I always email or call the vendor and ask if Shop Pay is really the only option. That is how bad it is.

Pros: The only good thing is you don't have to save any info such as shipping/billing address or credit card. But PayPal saves the info with less hassle.

Cons: It is too difficult to sign into the website. It is like a bully, overriding other options on websites and giving me no option to pay by another method.

Overall: Shop Pay is impossible to override on websites and delays payments too far in advance. It is difficult to sign into my Shop Pay account and it's not worth it, in my opinion, to use. I'd give this app zero stars if it were an option. I'd rather use PayPal, which is more user-friendly and secure.

Pros: Nothing. I'm not sure why I have to fill out the Pros section because I have absolutely nothing positive to say about Shopify or ShopPay. As far as I am concerned, they should be charged with Criminal Stalking on the internet.

Cons: Shopify kept information from a gift purchase from one vendor without my permission and then changed my account shipping address with another vendor without my knowledge so that another purchase (not a gift) was shipped erroneously. In neither case did I consent to do business with Shopify/ShopPay

Overall: I purchased a gift magazine subscription and had it mailed directly to the recipient. A few days later, I ordered coffee online from a vendor I have been using for years. Several days later I got a call saying that my coffee had been delivered to the wrong person at the wrong address because it was sent to the magazine gift recipient. I checked my account at the coffee vendor, and ShopPay had BROKEN INTO MY ACCOUNT AND CHANGED MY DEFAULT NAME AND ADDRESS. It wasn't until I contacted the coffee vendor that I realized that: a) ShopPay was the 3rd-party payment collector in both cases and that b) ShopPay was STALKING ME ACROSS THE WEB. I never agreed to do business with ShopPay, I knew nothing about them till this happened. I complained the BBB in Canada (Shopify is a Canadian corporation) and Shopify just blew me off. They didn't care one whit.

Pros: NONE. NOTHING IS OF VALUE WHEN USING SHOP PAY. I end up not even shopping at websites requiring the use of Shop Pay. The best thing about Shop Pay is that I end up not buying anything became I have only experienced negative interaction with this app. It is a total waste of the user and the merchant as they lose customers due to requiring the customer use the Shop Pay app.

Cons: Makes Logging in 100 times more difficult, laborious, tedious, time consuming, frustrating. You go to login to a website, you login then have to login several more times because of the Shop Pay feature. It is infuriating to say the least.

Overall: I end up not even shopping at websites that require Shop Pay. I cannot login with ease. The login process takes numerous login attempts. It is very demotivating, time consuming and frustrating to login in a regular manner. Then be required to login again. Then several times after that. By that time I am so frustrated I need up just not buying whatever I was intending to buy and just leave or buy the item elsewhere.

Cons: Beware. This is the worst experience I have ever had with any company. I finally resorted to stopping payment on my order after getting the round and round over and over. GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR. This site is a scam and a fraud ,Do not give them your money.
