To customize the way your Messages app appears, try changing the theme on your phone. If you want to change your font for Messages, adjust your phone's font settings. You can also set a custom wallpaper or background color for individual message threads. From the conversation you'd like to customize, tap More options (the three vertical dots), and then tap Customize wallpaper.

    "Just what you need"

    Pros: This allows you to message from your phone to your contacts. Comes with Samsung devices. Integration with Samsung emoji is cute.

    Cons: It seems like pre-installed apps like this don't have nearly as many customization options as other messaging apps available.

    Overall: There is nothing that this application does wrong. What it does, it does well. It's just that more customizable options exist.
