Audience
Makers, hobbyists and prosumers who 3D print functional parts (brackets, enclosures, adapters, printer upgrades, storage) and have outgrown beginner modeling tools. Small product design and prototyping teams that need print-ready parts without professional CAD licenses. K-12 schools and educators: classroom mode is free, with pseudonymous student accounts and teacher-only AI.
About OwlCAD
OwlCAD is parametric 3D CAD that runs in your browser, built for designing parts to 3D print. It sits between beginner tools people outgrow and professional CAD that needs an install and a learning curve.
Every dimension stays editable: change a value and the model rebuilds. Booleans are manifold by construction, clearance presets size press, slip and loose fits for FDM, and a printability check flags overhangs, thin walls and leaks before export.
Includes constrained sketches, per-edge fillets and chamfers, patterns, sweep and loft, assemblies with mates and a bill of materials, and 30+ generators for gears, threads, enclosures, Gridfinity bins and hinges. Imports STL, 3MF, OBJ, STEP and OpenSCAD; exports STL, 3MF, OBJ, GLB, STEP, DXF and SVG.
AI generation turns a prompt into an editable model or a sculpted mesh. Also available as a desktop app and an MCP server for AI agents.
Nothing to install, no account needed to start.
Pricing
Pro is $12 per month, or $120 per year (two months free). It adds AI generation across several models, Modify-with-AI, AI-assisted customizing, and MCP access for AI agents. Pro includes 20 AI credits a month, which reset monthly. Light parametric generations cost one credit, and detailed mesh models cost a few. One-time credit top-up packs never expire. Pro users can also bring their own AI provider key and generate without spending credits. Payments are handled by Stripe, and you can cancel anytime with no contract.
Classroom features for K-12 schools are free. Districts can add a pooled AI credit budget for teachers; contact OwlCAD for details.
