OpenAI Dots

Pros: What I like most is that it feels less like “using AI” and more like delegating work. I can give a Dot an ongoing objective, let it work across apps and the web, and have it come back when it needs input instead of babysitting every step. The always-on part is the biggest difference. Recurring research, follow-ups, monitoring, admin work, and multi-step workflows make a lot more sense when the agent can keep working after I leave the chat. I also like that each Dot gets its own cloud computer and browser. That gives it a much more complete working environment than a normal chatbot, especially when a task involves websites, files, tools, and multiple systems.

Cons: The downside is that something this capable needs careful permissions. I would be conservative about local computer access, sensitive accounts, external messages, and anything destructive until I was comfortable with the rules and approval flow.

Overall: Overall, Dots feels like one of the clearest steps toward AI agents becoming actual digital coworkers. It is most useful when I have work that needs persistence, tools, and follow-through rather than another one-off answer. Feels like OpenAI's answer to Grok Bot and OpenClaw/Hermes Agent.
