Pros: The platform has a clean dashboard, straightforward API documentation, a sandbox for testing request structure, and a detailed audit log showing the status of API calls.

Cons: Both the Global and European OE Build Sheet services returned no useful data for a valid 2024/2025 model-year Mercedes-Benz manufactured in Europe, although Mercedes-Benz is listed as a supported brand. Free VIN decoders could identify the same vehicle and provide basic information. The sandbox only helped test the technical request structure and did not show whether real production data would be available. When the service proved unsuitable, the company refused to refund my unused $39 PrePay balance and declined further correspondence about it. I strongly recommend verifying several real VINs and obtaining written confirmation of coverage before paying any money. Advertised brand coverage does not guarantee that data will be available for your vehicle.

Overall: I tested One Auto API because I was considering integrating its vehicle data services into our business system.

The vehicle was a recent Mercedes-Benz produced in Europe in the 2024–2025 model-year range. One Auto API publicly lists Mercedes-Benz as supported by both its Global and European OE Build Sheet services. However, neither paid service returned any useful information for this valid VIN—not even the vehicle’s basic identification or specifications.

This was particularly disappointing because free VIN-decoding services were able to identify the same vehicle and provide basic information.

The free sandbox allowed me to test the technical API integration, but it did not provide a realistic way to verify whether production data would actually be available for the vehicles we needed. Only after purchasing PrePay credit did I discover that both build-data services returned no data.

One Auto API stated that the manufacturer did not return information for this particular vehicle. They confirmed that their basic VIN decoder could identify it, but the services advertised for factory build data could not provide the expected information.

I requested a refund of the unused $39 balance. The company refused, stating that PrePay top-ups are non-refundable payments, even though most of the balance remained unused and the service proved unsuitable for our intended integration. They also declined to continue corresponding about the refund.

Based on my experience, I strongly advise potential customers not to prepay money based solely on the manufacturers and regions shown as “covered” on the website. Before making any payment, ask One Auto API to confirm in writing that it can return the required data for your exact manufacturers, markets, model years and sample VINs.

“Brand coverage” does not necessarily mean that data will be available for your vehicle, and if the service returns nothing, you may still be unable to recover your unused PrePay balance.
